Zurich Citizens News, 1977-11-10, Page 12Play Merchants, Sunday Flyers lose two tilts In their first effort of the season the Zurich Flyers came up on the short end of the stick loosing to the Grand Bend Colonials Friday night 4-0 and bowing to Thedford on Sunday 7-6. 9n Friday evening the Flyers were never really in the game with the Grand Bend squad scoring.early in the first period. Danny Dalton notched the first of his two goals at the 7:18 mark with John Becker and Jim Guenther getting the assists. About people Mr. & Mrs. Ward Neeb visited on Saturday with Mrs. Thomas Meyers and Mr. & Mrs. Ernie Brown in Oakville and with Mr. Meyers in the Sheridan Villa, Mississauga. ZURICH Tom Anderson scored his first goal of the season beating Percy Bedard in the Zurich net. Pete Gill picked the assist. The second period remained scoreless until 17:04 when Dalton scored his second goal of the game assisted by Reid Burley. The Colonials finished up the scoring with Pete Gill getting the goal. Burley and Tom Anderson assisted, The two stars of the game were Jim Guenther for the Colonials and Percy Bedard for the Flyers. Sunday's game was highlighted by a six goal outburst by the Thedford squad in the third period. Up until that point the Flyers had held a 3-1 advantage. Zurich hit the score sheet first with Ron Desjardine scoring at 2:08 of the first. Pat Bedard assisted. Goal scorers for Thedford were Brooks, Sharp with two, Elliot, Burch, Willert and Moloy. In the second period, Pete Postill carried the scoring for the Flyers with a goal at 14:41. Wayne Clarke assisted. • At 5:07 Randy McKinnon scored for the Flyers with Desjardine and Pat Bedard assisting. Three minutes later Wayne Clarke scored, making it 5 to 3 for Zurich. Dave Cyr assisted. Ron Rader notched the final goal of the evening for the Flyers with Desjardine and Pat Bedard assisting.
