Council also discussed details
of the proposed area fire board
agreement between Stanley and
Goderich Townships and
Bayfield. A formula for cost-
sharing is to be worked out
among the three municipalities.
Two men had applied for
permits to trap muskrat along
the side of Stanley Township
roads. These will be granted.
Council concurred with a
resolution by McNab Township in
Renfrew County, calling for part -
assessment of unoccupied new
houses after a period of time.
McNab argued that a township
contributed money for services
but received no revenue till new
dwellings were sold. Its
resolution suggested assessment
at one-third their value the first
year; two-thirds, the second
year; and full value the third
year.
In other business, Stanley's
council approved tile drain loans
of $3,000 apiece to two applicants.
Accounts approved for
payment for September were
$28,300 for the general account,
and $32,700 for roads. The latter
included a bridge.

Mr. & Mrs. Henry Vos returned
a week ago Monday from a very
enjoyable vacation in the
Netherlands. They visited with
Mrs. Vos's sister and travelled
extensively throughout the
country. They also travelled
through West Germany, and
spent a week in Vienna. While in
Vienna they took four tours,
visiting the Shonhun . Palace,
which has 4,000 rooms, the
Belvedere Palace, and the bir-
thplaces of some of • the famous
composers. They attended a
concert in the concert hall where
Johann Strauss had performed,
an organ concert in St. Stephen's
Dome, and the Vienna Opera
House, where they heard the
Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
One tour took them to the Vienna
Woods, which have been im-
mortalized in the music of
Austria.
Congratulations to Danny and
Shirley Taylor on the birth of
their bouncing baby boy,
Christopher Wayne.
Mrs. Florence Elliott has a
little grandson, Matthew Roy,
born to Ross and Dawn. They are
moving on October 21 to a farm
near New Liskeard, where Ross
will carry on his business of
shoeing horses, and will teach the
trade in the local college.
CORRECTION
Headings were accidentally
switched on two items about
Zurich 4-11 Clubs last week. The
one about the Fruit Flies group
was headed "Zurich also study
fruit". It should have read
"Zurich 'Fruit Flies' hold
meeting", but this appeared over
the report on Unit 4 on the same
page as the Hensall 4-H reports.

Car repairs can be expensive.
This is what Ontario is doing
to help you get the most for
your car repair dollar.
Repair complaints are the second-
highest of all automobile -related
complaints in Ontario.
To help motorists deal with car
repair problems, your Ontario Ministry
of Consumer and Commercial Relations
has prepared special stickers giving tips
on "How to get the most from your car
repair dollar." Car manufacturers and
dealers have been asked to distribute
them to purchasers of new cars and the
stickers are available from the Ministry.
Here are the car repair tips:
• If your car warranty still applies,
review it carefully and determine
exactly who pays for what.
® Check your Owner's Manual; you may
find the solution to your problem right
there.
• Be specific when describing the
problem to your serviceman and don't
be afraid to ask questions.
• Ask for an estimate before proceeding
with major repairs. Make sure all work
is authorized by you and never sign a
blank work order.
• Get full details on repair work
warranties (parts and labour).
If you feel that you have been
misled or deceived, you may. appeal
under The Business Practices Act.
Your Provincial Government
wants you to know what your rights are
under The Business Practices Act.
