SLOW COOKERS
One of the newest kitchen appliances is the slow cooker. Th. long, slow simmering
of food known for centuries has bean revived by this electric appliance. Atempera-
ture dial gives low and high settings end many have an automatic matting which
allows the cooker to start at high end then switch to low. The low setting produces a
temperature In the range 01170 .200 F, and the high will roach temperatures of up
to 280 F. Thelia are well abouve the unsafe temperature range of 40 • 120 F.
For the busy cook, this *epitonce can mean freedom - simply combine ingredients,
sat the temperature,and let the cooker do the work all day. The Juices from each
Ingredient will give the meal an exceptional flavour.
Slow cooking can also be economical because you can use cheaper cute of meat.
The long simmering will make than tender. High -protein peas and beans such as
