PIGS IN PARADE —,,One of the features of Saturday's Zurich Fair parade will be the appearance of
Laverne and Helen McPherson of Arkona with their team of pigs. Mrs. McPherson is the former Helen

Deicherts unite for picnic
The 1977 Deichert Reunion was
held in Dashwood Sunday, July 17
with 89 in attendance. This was
the 20th anniversary of the event.
Officers elected were:
president, Allen Eichler, Kit-
chener; vice-president, Ron
Deichert, Stratford; secretary,
Mrs. Clarence Stever; - New
Hamburg; treasurer, Claire
Deichert, Zurich.
Sports conveners will be Bill
and Doris Weigand and Fred and
Ruthanne Negrijn, all of Exeter.
Food conveners are Mr. & Mrs.
Albert Deichert, Zurich, and Mr.
& Mrs. Wilfred Eichler, New
Hamburg.
The family historian Peter
Deichert reported four births,
one marriage and one death
during the year.
Special awards of silver dollars
were given to Mr. & Mrs. Victor
Deichert who celebrated their
60th wedding anniversary in May
and to Mr. & Mrs. Earl Deichert
who will celebrate their 25th
wedding anniversary in August.
The youngest baby was Andrea
Weigand; the oldest man was
Peter Deichert, Zurich; .the
oldest lady Mrs. Jacob Deichert,
Zurich, the birthday closest to the
picnic date, Gary Deichert.

Babes in Arms, the Rogers and
Hart 1937 musical, opens, for a
two-week run at the Huron
Country Playhouse Tuesday,
July 26. The show, which still
includes all the original hit tunes,
has been brought a little more up-
to-date and?now takes in the early
1950's.
In the cast are Araby Lockhart,
Bob Windsor, Alden Jones, Rick
Zimmerman, Mark Russell and
Shari Bondy.
John Carradine, the film star,
will appear in the comedy,
George Washington Slept Here,
by Moss Hart and George
Kaufmann. It opens Tuesday,
August 9, for a one-week
engagement. Mr. Carradine
plays Stanley Menninger, a rich
old uncle.
