BLUE WATER REST HOME
Golden Glimpses
The air is so fresh and sweet
from all the blossoming shrubs
and trees that the Residents are
really enjoying the outdoors
these days. Since this was the
holiday weekend it was an ideal
time for Residents to get
together with their families. We
welcome Miss Marie Gelinas as
a new Resident to the Home.
Miss Gelinas was born at
Drysdale 99 years ago so no
doubt she has many friends and
relatives around this area.
Thanks to the assistance of
Wintario, the occupants of
Maplewoods are enjoying a table
shuffleboard in the recreation
room.
On Tuesday evening, the ladies
of the Chiselhurst United Church
sponsored the monthly birthday
party. They provided ,a
programme of piano and violin
music and also played bingo.
Following the programme ice
cream and birthday cake was
served. Residents having
birthdays during the month of
Maw and receiving gifts,
courtesy of the Ladies Auxiliary,
were Mrs. Ethel Appleton, Mrs.
Emma Bennewies, Mrs.
Jennette Finnigan and Mrs. Anne
Oligny, On Thursday afternoon a
bus ride was enjoyed to the
Seaforth, Clinton areas. At pre-
sent the bus is quite a popular
means of entertainment, unless
of course, the weather becomes
too hot and humid.
Perhaps many of you read the
article on the installation•of the
whirlpool bath. Erroneously the
paper stated that the bath was a
donation of Mr. Edwin Sittler
and should have read from the
Estate of the late Mr. Edwin
Steckle of Zurich.
If any students who are in-
terested in the volunteer
programme assisting Residents
in the Home and have not con-
tacted the president of the
Ladies Auxiliary, Mrs. Louis
Farwell, RR 3, Zurich, perhaps
you will do so very soon.
Bingo was played on Friday
afternoon rather than evening.
The Sunday evening chapel
service was conducted by Rev.
George Anderson of the Exeter
Anglican church.

A community shower was held
recently for -Mary Lou McKinley
in the Sunday School room of
Goshen Church. Several of the
neighborhood ladies ad-libbed
their way through a funny skit
titled "Planning Mary Lou's
Shower". Musical numbers were
played by Julie Armstrong and
Ruth. Martin, and by Lisa and
Lauralee Robinson. Becky
McKinley did a tap-dance
number and everyone par-
ticipated in a musical contest:
The skit wound up with the group
singing "All Day, AU Night,
Mary Lou".
Mary Lou was presented with
many lovely gifts, and with one
of her father's campaign hats,
decorated with a few ribbons
from the gifts. She thanked the
ladies, and a pleasant social time
followed.
Mrs. Wm. McAsh held a family
shower on Sunday for her niece,
Bonnie Stirling of Toronto, who
is being married in July.
