Huron Children's Aid Society of
Exeter president Elsie Westcott
was returned to her post for
another term when the Society
held its annual meeting at the
CAS Goderich offices recently.
Vice president for 1977 will be
Charles Thomas and secretary
treasurer is William Alcock.
In her annual report Mrs.
Westcott noted that the CAS had
opened a new girls home
(C.A.S.T.L.E.) in July and that it
was now filled to capacity and
"running smoothly".
"With the financial restraints,"
she noted, "it means all our funds

New jackets
for OPP
Commissioner H. H. Graham of
the Ontario Provincial Police
announces that during April the
public will begin to see members
of the OPP in a new all -season
uniform. The new jacket will
replace the present tunic worn by
the OPP and most other Police
forces in Canada.
The jacket is designed for
greater flexibility. It features a
pleated back, giving the officer a
greater ease of movement. The
Sam Browne belt will be worn
under the jacket rather than on
top, with areas cut away at the
bottom of either side for the of-
ficer's gun holster and handcuff
pouch.
The jacket will be worn for
work purposes only, with the
present tunic being retained for
formal occasions.

Lounging Ladies meet
and discuss trims
By G. Schwartzentruber
The Lounging Ladies gathered
at Schwartzentruber's on
Wednesday, March 23. Sylvia
opened the meeting and took
attendance. Our Achievement
Day is May 14 in Clinton. The title
of our next club will be
"Featuring Fruit". We will be
making various desserts with the
different fruits.
We discussed the types of trims
that could be used on leisure
wear. Some of these are lace,
gathered lace, eyelet, ric rac,
wide braids, fringes, bindings.
We did several samples. One
was a casing for knit or woven
material. The casing is usually
found around the sleeve or
around the waist. Casing is what
holds your elastic in place.
We also did a sample of a
button with a thread shank.
Sometimes a botton doesn't
have a shank so you can use a pin
or a toothpick for support while
you are sewing the botton on.
After we completed that then
we started sewing on our
nightgowns. The meeting was
over by 9:15.
