In a best of three series, Zurich
finally battled out 2 wins and a tie
to advance in W.O.A.A.
playdowns.
Zurich 9 - Grand Bend 6
Monday, February 7
Grand Bend started the scoring
in the first period by Kelders, but
before two minutes had lapsed
Zurich scored twice to get the
lead. Chris Denomme notched
the first goal aided by Jim Willert
and then Robert Willert blasted
another by on a lone effort,
In the second frame, each team
scored three times, Guy Wilde
scored twice and Carl Wilde
scored one, while Chris
Denomme, Kris Bedard and
Robert Willert each notched a
counter.
In the last period, Zurich
outscored Grand Bend 4-2, Mike
Haggitt and Len Van Wonderen
each scored, while both Chris
Denomme and Robert Willert
completed their "hat tricks".

Wednesday, February 9
Despite playing a 10 minute
overtime, this exciting game
remained a tie. The first period
was Zurich's with Robert Willert
slamming both goals home, aided
by Mike Haggitt on the first and
Mark Regier on the second.
However, the second frame
belonged to Grand Bend when the
Wilde boys were let loose to get
three goals to give their team a 3-
2 lead, Then in the first minute of
play, with each team playing only
three attackers, Mark Regier got
a break and tied the game. Three
minutes later, Guy Wilde scored
his third goal to give them the
lead again, but Len Van Won-
deren flipped one by to tie the
game again, minutes later.
There were close attempts to
score in the remainder of the
game, but neither team came up
with the win.
Zurich 4 - Grand Bend 2
Sunday, February 13
It was a tough game all the
way, but with persistent checking
and great goal -tending by Bob
Hay and Kevin Geoffrey, Zurich
put Grand Bend out of further
play in W.O.A.A. playoffs.. All the
goals but one were scored in the
first period.
First of all, Guy Deitz slipped
one by for Grand Bend, but Mike
Haggitt poked one home after
Robert Willert shoved the puck
out front of the net. Next, Jim
Willert flipped another goal in,
assisted by Mark Regier and
Robert Willert.
Then it was Carl Wilde for
Grand Bend, but in the last
minute of play in the period,
Wayne McKinnon chipped in a
goal, aided by Chris Denomme.
About midway through the
second frame, a nice goal was
slipped past the post by Kris
Bedard on a lone break -away.

in the next round and will play
here in Zurich on Wednesday,
February 16, and Thursday at

goalie gets shut -out
The Zurich Novice hockey
team won two games last week as
they defeated Bayfield on
Wednesday by a score of 6 to 0
and defeated Goderich on Sunday
by a score of 5 to 2.
In Wednesday's game Mark
Johnston got a hat trick with
Steven Consitt, Paul Bedard and
Mark Clausius scoring the
remaining three goals. Marty
Merner got the shut -out as he

Sunday's game was played at
Vanastra with Ed Meidinger
getting a hat trick for the Zurich
team. Steve Consitt and Mark
Clausius each scored for Zurich
to account for the other two goals.
The next game for the Novice
team will be Thursday night at•
5:30 p.m. in the Zurich arena as
they take on Grand Bend.
Your Ontario Government operates a program called
Vocational Rehabilitation Services, which is designed to assist
physically, mentally and emotionally handicapped people to
become employable and where possible self-supporting.

Last year, 11,800 handicapped persons received one or
more of these services.
The program also helps employers, by pre -interviewing job
applicants, providing information about their abilities, sharing
wage payments during initial on-the-job training, and offering
many other supportive services.
Through the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social
Services, a staff of trained counsellors and supervisors helps
the handicapped person develop his or her work potential.
