Pee Wees win two garner out of three
Brussels 5, Zurich 2
The Zurich Pee Wees had a
busy week playing Hensall
Wednesday, Brussels Friday,
Goderich House league Saturday
and Dublin on Sunday.
On Friday night at the 6:33
mark of the first period at
Brussels Todd Wheeler fired one
past Zurich's goalie Kevin Oke,
He was assisted by Leslie Black
and Peter Bennett.
At 1:5 of the second period
David Erb blasted one past
Brussels' goalie Neil Mitchell. He
was assisted by David Smith, At
2:31 Kevin Deitner, from Steve
Knight scored. Todd Wheeler
Bantams play well,
win one, lose one
Zurich7, Hensall 1
Only one goal was scored in the
first period and came from the
stick of Len Van Wonderen on a
pass from Robert'Willert.
In the second period, two more
goals were added, both scored by
Robert Willert, one unassisted
and the other aided by Wayne
McKinnon.
The game really opened up in
the third frame, when Zurich
added four more goals, while
Hensall got their loner from
Parker. For Zurich Kerry
Bedard and Kris Bedard each
scored one, while Robert Willert
notched two more goals. Assists
went to Chris Denomme, Jim
Willert, Robert Willert and Mike
Haggitt.
Drayton 7, Zurich 5
Zurich came out on the short
end of scoring in this game, when
they played in a very small arena
at Kurtzville. Drayton outscored
Zurich 3-1 in the first period,
while Zurich outscored Drayton
3-2 in the second, but Drayton got
two while Zurich only gained one
in the last frame. The scoring for
Zurich was as follows.

Don and Lorraine Taylor have
returned home from an enjoyable
holiday to Treasure Island, St.
Petersburg. Mr. & Mrs. Oliver
Pryce flew down with them and
then joined Bob and Willa Taylor
who had motored down earlier.
Even at St. Petersburg the
weather was pretty cool, and
some people were wearing fur
coats. Business was good for the
clothing stores with the increased
demand for warm coats.
Ed Heard has also returned
from a vacation in Florida.
Ladies of the community who
are interested in cake decorating
are invited to the UCW meeting
on February 3 when Mrs. Helen
Hoggart of RR 2 Bayfield will
demonstrate by icing several
different cakes.
(Scamp) has gone to his happy
hunting ground. Rev. Taylor's
frisky little dog who always
carried the mail home for his
master and accompanied him on
his walks around the village died
a week ago. The neighbourhood
children will also rraiss him.

On Saturday, January 22,
Zurich Lions Pee Wees played an
exhibition game with Goderich
House League. At 1:31 Brian
Horner scored on a pass from
David Erb. Mark Kirk scored
unassisted at 8:42.
At 1:53 of the second period
David Smith scored his first goal
of the afternoon assisted by
David Erb.
At 14:20 Goderich's Brad Smith
scored unassisted.
Zurich popped two more goals
in the third period, At 8:01 Paul
Overholt scored assisted by Mark
Kirk. David Smith scored his
second goal of the afternoon
assisted by Brian Horner. Goal
tenders were—Goderich, David
Fisher and Joe Burbine; Zurich,
Kevin Oke and Dwayne Martin.
Zurich 6, Hensa II 3
Zurich Pee Wees opened in the
first period at 1:48 when David
Erb put the rubber puck between
the post. The goal was assisted by
Mark Kirk.
In the second period Zurich put
two fast goals in. At. 0:10 Brian
Horner snuck one past the
Hensall goalie unassisted. At 1:34
Brian Horner scored his second
goal, assisted by John
McAllister. David Smith scored
at 6:04 assisted by David Erb.
Hensall came back and scored
at 8:48 when Mike Jorgensen
scored from David Rowcliffe. In
the third period Hensall came
back and scored two more goals.
One at 4:03 scored by Dennis
McBride unassisted and the third
goal was scored at 7:25 by Rick
Mattuci assisted by Ron Lavery
and David Rowcliffe,
Zurich came back and scored
two goals. At 10:00, Brian Horner
scored his third goal of the night
with John McAllister and David
Smith assisting him, At the 14:42
mark, Mark Kirk blasted the
puck behind the Hensall goalie.
He was assisted by Dwayne
Laporte.
