The Zurich Atoms were a busy
crew last week as they played
Exeter twice and Monkton once.
The Atoms managedto defeat
Exeter in both games and tied
Monkton 4-4.
In the first game against
Exeter played in Zurich last
Wednesday, Dean Armstrong
opened the scoring for Zurich in
the first period assisted by Doug
Schade.
In the second period Dean
managed to score two more goals
to give himself a hat trick. Rick
Kuepfer scored a fourth goal for
Zurich before the end of the
second period.
In the third Rick again scored
twice more for Zurich to give
him a hat trick as well. The two
Exeter goals were scored in the
third period by Steve Gould and
Sean Whiteford.
In their Thursday game
against Monkton the Zurich
Atoms kept it close all the way. In
a closely fought first period
neither team was able to score.
However, early in the second
Monkton opened the scoring to
take the lead. Zurich rallied back
as Dean Armstrong scored twice,
both times single-handed to give
the lead to Zurich. Monkton was
not to bedeterred.They managed
two goals of their own before the
period ended,
In the third Zurich outscored
Monkton two goals to one with
Rick Kuepfer and Derek
McKinnon scoring singlehanded
for Zurich. The final score was a
four-four tie.
Playing against Exeter again
on Friday, Zurich took a decisive
seven to three victory.
In the first period Zurich
scored four consecutive goals
before allowing Exeter any.
Before the period ended, Exeter
had managed two goals to get
back into the game.
In the second period Exeter
managed one goal, their last of
the game while Zurich managed
three more. No goals were scored
in the third.
For Zurich, the goalscorers
were Darcy Martin, Rick
Kuepfer, and Jeff Laporte with
Dean Armstrong' scoring the
other four Zurich. goals. Assists
went to Derek McKinnon and
Brian Steckle with most of the
Zurich goals being scored single-
handedly. The final score; Zurich
seven, Exeter three.

The Zurich Flyers played two
games last week, winning one
against Goderich but losing to
Huron Park.
Last Thursday at Huron Park
the Flyers were defeated by a
score of five to three.
Huron Park did all the scoring
in the first period as they found
the target twice while managing
to keep the Flyers off-balance.
The trend continued into the
second period as Huron Park
again scored twice early in the
period. However, Zurich found
their stride and came back with
Rick Schilbe scoring twice for the
Flyers, assisted by Jim Ramer
and Kevin McKinnon.

Zurich kept up the pace in the
third period as Kevin McKinnon
tucked one in to make the score a
close four to three for Huron
Park, However, Huron Park
managed to score once more
before the end of the game to
secure their victory.
Most valuable players in the
game were Bill Woodill for Huron
Park and Jim Ramer for Zurich.
The game against Goderich
was played in Zurich and the
Flyers took advantage of their
home ice to secure a victory.
Goderich opened the scoring in
the first period and then held the
Flyers off for the remainder of
that period. In the second period

Ron Desjardine tied the score for
Zurich at one to one but for the
remainder of the second period
neither team managed a goal.
Zurich opened the scoring in
the third period as Steve Bedour
assisted by Ken Smale gave
Zurich the lead. Ron, Desjardine
added an insurance goal' for
Zurich assisted by Ken Smale
and Jim Ramer. Goderich
managed one more goal before
the end of the game, but one was
not enough. The Flyers won the
game by a scare of three to two.
Stars of that game were Ron
Corriveau for Goderich and
Percy Bedard for Zurich.
