Zurich Citizens News, 1977-01-12, Page 3Hensall by Bertha McGregor Ernie Davis, who recently underwent surgery in St, Joseph's Hospital, London, returned to his home on Sunday. RCMP Constable David Beer and Mrs. Beer returned to their home at Port Conquitlam, B.C. after spending the holiday season with the former's mother, Mrs. John Beer and his brothers, and also his grandmother, Mrs. Fred Beer. Mr. & Mrs. Robert Keyes of Grand Bend were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Harold Parker. Mr. George Dowson, who has been a patient in South Huron Hospital, returned to his home this week. Mr. & Mrs. Christian Jeppeson and son Ben of California spent a few days visiting with Mrs. Jeppeson's parents Mr. & Mrs. Nic Oud who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and also Mr. & Mrs. Nick Blom, Kippen who celebrated their 25th wed- ding anniversary. Mr. Jim Robertson of Lucan conducted the service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday in the absence of Rev. W. D. Jarvis. Miss Brenda Pepper played the piano. Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Adams of Exeter were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Jack Corbett. Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Parker and Jamie spent the week -end visiting with Cpl. Doug Wein, Mrs. Wein and David at Whitby. Anglican church At St. Pauls Anglican Church the Rev. G. A. Anderson took from his text "We Have Seen His Star In the East and Are Come to Worship Him" St. Matthew's chapter 2, verse 2. During the service the officers of the Anglican Church women aere installed. They are president Mrs, Frank Forrest, vice-president Mrs. G. A. Anderson, secretary Mrs. E. J. Roberts and treasurer Mrs. Annie Reid. Ladies Auxiliary The Hensall Ladies' Legion Auxiliary met Tuesday evening with the president Mrs. Beatrice Uyl in charge. A donation was made to the Minor Hockey Teams. The winners of the draw for the Money Doll at Christmas were: Lorne Chambers, St, Catharines won the doll and Shawn Lovell won the ten dollar prize. Prizes for the evening were won as follows: Mystery Prize: Mrs. Mona Campbell , who also won the attendance prize. Refreshments were served and a social hour en- joyed by all, Amber Lodge Noble Grand Mrs. Dorothy Parker presided at the meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge Wed- nesday evening assisted by Vice Grand Mrs. Maggie Campbell. Arrangements were made to hold the 28th anniversary of the Lodge February 2 with members attending a dinner previous to the regular meeting. Mrs. Margaret Consitt L.S.V.G. reported for the C.P.T. committee stating twenty-one boxes of fruit were delivered to shut-ins for Christmas. Mrs. Maggie Campbell Vice Grand reported for the Visiting Com- mittee. A number of "Thank - you" and cards were received at the meeting. Following the meeting an exchange of gifts was made when your "Secret Pal" was revealed, Progressive euchre was played with the following prize winners: lone hands: Mrs. Ruby Bell; High Prize: Mrs. Elizabeth Riley; Consolation prize, Mrs. Hazel Corbett. A delicious lunch was served by the social committee. Hensall UCW Unit 4 meets The regular meeting of unit 4 of Hensall U.C.W. was held Thur- sday afternoon, January 6, with 17 members answering the roll call. Mrs, James McAllister opened the meeting by reading a poem, titled "Thanks". Mrs. Slade had the devotional and spoke on "Faith". The study was given by Mrs. Earle Rowe who told of the plight of the Canadian Indian in regard to native land claims and scientific development. During the business period the members were reminded of the Huron -Perth Presbyterial to be held in Seaforth January 25, with registration at 9:15 to 9:30 a.m. Mrs. Eric Luther and Mrs, Nan Britton sang a duet accompanied by Mrs. T.
