Mr. and Mrs. Bud Sturgeon,
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Potter and
little Merry of R.R. 3, Clinton,
were dinner guests on Sunday
with their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Jack B. Sturgeon and
brother, Andrew.
Rev. William and Mrs.
Bennett were guests of their
son and family for Christmas on
Monday, December 27, at the
Rectory in Chesley. Rev. Robert
Bennett and Mrs, Bennett
and Jessica, entertained his
family, who included his sister,
Sally of London; his brother,
Mr. and Mrs. Neil Bennett,
Nairon and Gareth of London
and his sister Kerry Sharp, her
husband Robert and children
Patrick and Tyler in Oakville.
Brian and Celine Merrill of
Ottawa spent the Christmas
weekend with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Merrill.
Visiting for the week were
their son Gordon, his wife Jose
and granddaughter Lana of New
Westminister, B.C.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Reid
were Christmas guests of their
son-in-law and daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Ralph Stephenson;
and also celebrated with their
grandchildren and new great
grandchild.
Mr, and Mrs. Gary Potter
and little Merry of RR 3, Clinton
were New Year's guests of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack
B. Sturgeon and brother And-
rew.
Mr. and Mrs. E. Walter
Erickson spent the New Year's
weekend in Port Huron, Michi-
gan with friends.
Christmas Day guests with
Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Larson
were their granddaughter,
Karen Pounder, her husband
John and their great grand-
children Kyrstie and Shane of
London. _
Christmas Day visitors with
Mr, and Mrs. Norm Talbot were
Mr. and Mrs. Les Talbot,
Thompson and Kari -Lynn.
Mr. Robert MacVean visited
with his parents in Scotland
during the holiday.
Miss Barbara Graham, Co-
quitlam, B.C. visited for the
holidays with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Graham,
Nancy and John.
Mr. and Mrs. Graham Red-
doch of Toronto were with
the former's parents, Rev.
James and Mrs. Reddoch at
Christmas.
As we watched and enjoyed
the Rose Bowl Parade on New
Year's Day we thought of our
good friends, Mr. and Mrs.
Clair Merner who are at pre-
sent visiting their daughter,
Doris, Mrs. Gilllespie, her
husband and family near
Pasadena where the parade
took place.
Mrs. V. Morton visited with
relatives in Ottawa during the
Christmas holiday.
ARENA
Vandalism at the Arena has
started already this winter. Last
week, the booth operators,
Ruthanne Knights and Dianne
Argyle, reported that the booth
had been broken into and a
quantity of chocolate bars and
licorice were stolen.
BAYFIELD COUNCIL
Bayfield Village Council was
sworn in at their Inaugural
meeting. Monday evening. A
Gavel and Stand, crafted by
Dr. James Garrett, was pre-
-sented to Bayfield Council by
Reeve Ed and Mrs. Oddleifson.
The gavel and stand are of
walnut from a tree cut down
by the late George (Dad)
Weston on Main Street several
years ago.
Council members were very
disturbed in respect to "The
Code of Practise" regarding
the situation of Livestock
buildings on farm property
and intend to attend an open
discussion meeting to be held
on January 20 from 2 to, 4 in

and the probability of increas-

Humane Society for their ideas
on the problem. They discussed
the fee schedule for the pump -
out station at the Bayfield
Marina, removal of a black-
board in the council chambers,
the closing of a small portion
of the road abutting part lot
262, plan 5, Molesworth Sur-
vey, the Heritage Conser-
vation District Designation
around Clan Gregor Square and
down Main Street and learned
that the Ministry of Trans-
portation and Communication
have asked the Village to re-
move their Centennial signs,
which they intend to do as
soon as possible.
Next meeting will be held
on Monday, January 17, at
7:30 p.m.
