Bake sale successful The bake goods and bazaar items sure went fast on Saturday at the annual fall Zurich Carmel Sweeney event of the Rest Home. Winner of a snowman decorated cake was Mrs. Lavina Miller, and the crocheted wall hanging went to Mrs. Anne Coxon, both of Zurich, New Zurich Pastors Welcome to• Father Paul Mooney who this following Sunday will be officially installed as the new pastor of St. Boniface Parish. Also welcome to Rev. Jacob Dressler and his wife Eileen and son Jamie, the Bingo helps missionaries A very successful and profitable bingo was held Saturday evening at the Zurich arena sponsored by the St. Boniface C.W.L. for the parish, all the proceeds of this fifth annual event went to Brother Bob Mit- tleholtz in India. The jack pot prize "A Pig" donated by Mr. & Mrs. Case Van Raay or the equilivant in money, was won by Mrs. Anna - Marie Watson. Attend encounter session Eight couples from Zurich and area made a Marriage Encounter week -end at Grand Bend. The first one for all of Huron County was held at the Village -Inn Retreat and Recreational Centre. Three couples will be making the week end this Friday at the Holiday Inn, City Centre, London. Personals A family dinner was held Sunday at the home of Marie and Jerome Denomme in honor of Jerome's birthday. Manson of Midland, Mr. & Mrs. Ron Manson, Orilla and Mrs. Donna Hodge, Richmond Hill were week -end visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Newell Geiger and Mr. & Mrs. John Geiger and sons, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Manson and family in honour of her sister Beatrice on her birthday. Then on Wednesday, Mr. & Mrs. Edmund Erb and Mary Lou, Mr. & Mrs.. Leonard Erb, Hensall and Mrs. Nancy Koehler, Mr. & Mrs. Earl Oesch,along with Robertand John and their families gathered to extend their best wishes. Laurene and Nap Corriveau spent Sunday visiting with aunts Miss Ada Coulter in Milverton and Miss Tillie Broughton in Newton. They were dinner guests with Laurene's mother Mrs. James Broughton in Atwood. Mr. & Mrs. John Haberer of Toronto enjoyed the week end with the latters parents Mr. & Mrs. J.W. Haberer. Garfield Denomme has recently undergone a serious operation and is in intensive care at St.Joseph's Hospital, London. Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Cole and Bryon of Ridgetown were week end guests of Sandy and Jack Stephen and family. Mr. & Mrs. Lewis Gingerich and Mr. & Mrs. Nelson Riley attended the funeral of Sam Elgi in Conneaut Lake, Penn- sylvania last week. Mr. & Mrs. Calvin Gingerich, Mr. & Mrs. Aaron Gingerich and Mrs. Mildred Gingerich also spent a few days in Pa.. and attended the Elgi funeral. Mr. & Mrs. Bill Oesch of Milverton were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Robert Manson and family. Last week visitors with Mr. & Mrp. Ferd Haberer were their daughter, Mrs Gretta Pulford of London and Mr. & Mrs. Ed Hendrick of Crediton. Ruth Ann Mills of Listowel spent a few days with her mother, Gertie Fleischauer. Cathy and Paul Flaxbard of London were Sunday visitors with the latters parents Mr. & Mrs. Earl Flaxbard. Saturday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Ken Breakey were, Mr. & Mrs. Mark Holden of London. Pearl and Gerald Gingerich returned home from spending a few days in Shirleysburg, Pennsylvania. Debbie, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Eckel opened a beauty shop in the village on Tuesday, November 21. It is known as. Deb's Coiffure. Mr. & Mrs. Isidore Laporte and Mr. & Mrs. Richard Erb spent the previous Sunday in Thamesford, attending a Lions cabinet meeting in which Isidore got acquainted with all the new presidents of other clubs. HUNTING SUCCESS — Local hunting enthusiast Bob Merner of Zurich returned from a hunting expedition north of Parry Sound recently and came back with a 250 pound black bear. Merner was among a group of nine hunters who made the northerly trek.
