The tournament which was originally scheduled to be a one day event became a two day affair as torrential rains swept the area and forced the cancellation of games scheduled for Saturday afternoon and evening. When the event resumed Sunday afternoon it was the Buckeyes and the team from South Zorra who provided the fans with many thrills as the local squad won 5-1. The Buckeyes were led by the pitching of Brian Hodgins who pitched a solid game and who received support at the plate and in the field. One player who thrilled the crowd of around 200 was Jeff O'Brien who stole home and who made a shoe -string catch for the final out of the game. On the offensive front, Mike Clarke hit a home run that sent the fans from their seats. The Buckeyes faced stiff competition on their way to the title with home squad squeaking by Embro 6-5 in their first game of the event. Bob Farquhar went the distance on the mound for the victory. In the championship semi- final Hodgins recorded his first win of the tournament as the Buckeyes edged Clinton 3-2.
