Staff photo Golden Glimpses The weeks fly by and we are now officially into summer which should mean that the residents should be able to enjoy the outdoors in comfort. However, up to this time very few of them have ventured to sit out for any length of time. Since this is Senior Citizens' week, we have been planning ac- tivities ctivities to celebrate the oc- casion. • Residents who have been out visiting during the week were Mr. William Decker, Mrs. Jenny Davis, Mrs. Mary Sturley, Mrs. Arletta Queensway happenings Visitors with Mrs. Ken- drick were Lionel and Helen -Kendrick and ,Ruth and Susan Durand. Mrs. Si Pollen, Verna Coates, Hazel Snell visited Louise Mitchell. Clarence Down visited Vera Lammie and Louise Mitchell. E.G. Hogarth and Elaine Baynham visited Dora Hogarth. Bill and Vina Parker, Bayfield, Belle Reid Varna, Margaret and Reheny Larson, Bayfield visited Clara Featherston. Mr. & Mrs. Smith Stratford visited Mrs. Monteith. Howard and Marion Johns, Roberta and. Mary Neil visited Mabel Johns. Leslie Mitchell and Jean and Robert Parker Stratford visited Louise Mitchell. Church service was conducted by Mrs. Eric Luther, joined by Mrs. Britton accompanied by Mrs. Erratt_' at the piano. Mrs. Jennetta Finnigan has returned from a two week visit with her family in Barrie and Terra Cotta. Wednesday afternoon, Reva's gifts and jewellery of Willowdale were on display in the lobby of the Home. It created a bit of entertain- ment watching the various people as they window shopped and also gave them the opportunity to shop if they desired. Bingo was played on Thursday evening followed by refreshments. On Friday evening, the music pupils of Mrs. Lenore Turkheim presented an organ recital in the dining room at 7:00 P.M. Both residents and visitors en- joyed this presentation. Refreshments were served at the close of the programme. The Sunday evening chapel service was con- ducted by Rev. George Anderson of the Anglican church, Exeter. Mr. McAuley presided at the organ and the singing was led by Rev. Anderson. Huronview Rev. Norman Pick of the Ontario Street United Church, Clinton, was in charge of the Sunday morning service at Huronview. The Chaplain, Reverend McWhinnie at- tended a convention in Sarnia. The North Huron Loyal Orange Lodge arranged a service in the Auditorium on Sunday evening. Reverend Wittack of the Blyth United Church was guest speaker for the service and Mr. Robert Hibbert read the lesson. The residents en- joyed sacred numbers by a group of musicians with guitars and accordion. Two new residents Mrs. Cornell, and Mr, Ephriam Clarke, were welcomed to the Home at Monday's program. Marie Flynn, Lorne Lawson, Elsie Henderson, .Norman Speir and Cecil Skinner provided the Old Tyme Music. Debbie Flynn entertained with step - dancing. The Clinton Christian Reformed volunteers assisted with activities. The Londesboro Women's Institute were hosts for the June birthday party on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Marjorie Duizer was Emcee for the party. The program included accordion solos by Genevieve Alien, readings by Myrtle Fairservice and piano solos by Gail Lear. Danny Lear entertained with vocal and guitar solos. The celebrants were presented with a gift from the Institute and one hun- dred and fifty residents and guests were served birthday cake and tea by the ladies. Mrs. Leybourne, who celebrated her ninetieth birthday in June, thanked the Institute on behalf of the residents.
