Softball Buckeyes place
second in Dorchester

The Zurich Buckeyes
came up with their best
results ever in a ball tourna-
ment, this past weekend at
Dorchester. The team won
their first three games,
before losing to a team from
Avon in the A division final.
The first game for Zurich
was against London
Ceramics, and the Buckeyes
had an easy time winning 8-
1. Rick Schilbe and Steve
Bedour lead the hitting at-
tack with two apiece, one of
Bedour's being a homerun.
Brian Hodgins went the dis-
tance pitching for Zurich.
Brian gave up five hits while
striking out four.
Zurich's second game was
against St. Thomas, and
came up with a 3-0 victory
behind the strong pitching of
Brian Hodgins.
Rick Schilbe, Steve
Bedour and Paul Morrison
lead the hitters with two hits
apiece, while Kevin McKin-
non and Ken Clarke each
collected one.
Again Brian Hodgins was

with a 7-2 victory — Rick

paced the Zurich attack.
Single hits went to Kevin
McKinnon, Ken Clarke, Cliff
Gingerich, Paul Morrison,
and Pat Bedard. Cliff
Gingerich pitching for
Zurich was very strong in
going the distance. Cliff
allowed but six hits while
- striking out eight.
Game four was for the A
division championship and;
Avon with two runs in the
four and seventh inning, and
a single run in the sixth was
enough as they defeated the
Buckeyes 5-0.
Zurich picked up only two
hits against the Avon
pitcher, who pitched all four
gamesjforAvon,all shut outs.

uhar were the only two to
get hits.
Brian Hodgins pitched for
Zurich, and pitched well as
he allowed only seven hits
while striking out four.
Zurich finished the tourna-
ment with a record of three
wins and one loss, and pick-
ed up seventy-five dollars
for their efforts. The next
action for the Buckeyes will
be the weekend of July 15th
at the Strathroy Tourna-
ment.
