Zurich Citizens News, 1978-06-01, Page 3SORTING THROUGH THE GOODS — The first event to take place at the new Hensall and district community centre was a rummage sale sponsored by the Hensall Kinettes and held Thursday. Staff photo Scout camping By Miivena Erickson At a recent meeting of the ladies auxiliary to Brownies, Cubs and Scouts, Brown Owl Eleanor Ritchie advised the mothers of the necessary needs for the Camping Weekend of June 9, 10, and 11 at Klahane Camp which is down Black Point Road south of Goderich. The Brownies who are eligible to attend are asked Bayfield by Millveua Erickson to arrive as close to 7 p.m. on Friday as possible and should have their supper before leaving home. Brownies should arrive at camp in camp uniform. Parents are asked to pick up their daughters at 4 p.m. on Sunday in time for supper at home once again. Two tents were purchased by the Auxiliary for use of the three groups; and the meeting set for June 21, at 6:30 p.m. for the Mother and Daughter Banquet to be held in the basement of St. Andrew's United Church; also set August 12 at 11 a.m. for the Bake Sale. (Location to be announced later.) Mrs. Ritchie and Mrs. Bornath have offered to start a Girl Guide Pack in the fall and Mrs. Lorraine Fisher will be starting a Beaver Pack for boys five to seven years of age in the fall. The lady's auxiliary are very grateful for the interest shown towards the young people by all dedicated volunteers. Brownie helpers will be needed in September and anyone interested in assisting is asked to please call Jean Dunn at 565-5316. A lunch convener will be decided in the fall and lunch assistants named were Jean Dunn Sharon Rau, and Annette Denomme. The plant slip exchange proved very successful and the maple syrup donated by Pat Westlake was won by Elaine Dunn. amsyswirail next weekend Coffee and cookies were enjoyed during the meeting. Children from Trinity and St. James, along with the Rector, attended the Children's Festival at St. Pauls" Cathedral, London, Saturday May 27. Several hundred children gathered in Victoria Park and after singing, paraded to the Cathedral carrying banners representing their home churches. Trinity A.C.W. will meet today at 2 p.m. at "The Hut", home of Lucy Diehl. Scouts attend camp Scouters John Siertsema and David Renner along with all but one member of the Bayfield Boy Scouts enjoyed a weekend Camp -out at Point Farms Provincial Park north of Goderich. The trophy won by Bayfield last year at the Gamporee was won this year by the Exeter Boy Scouts after a close race between the two troups. Solar Heat About 20 members of the 3M's group of St. Andrews' United Church toured the solar heated model home in London. Information on the costs, construction, faults and hopefully improvements of solar heating were ex- plained to the group. Before continuing home, the members enjoyed lunch together at the Knotty Pine Inn. Choir for service An invitation is extended to attend the morning worship in St. Andrews United Church on Sunday morning June 11 when the entire service will be provided by the Kingsway Lampton Church Junior Choir of Toronto. Start Arena Canvass Canvassers will start this week to canvass the Village and area', for support for a new arena. New Members Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stirling; Mr. and Mrs. Doug Ball; Mr. and Mrs. Matt Nediger and Mrs. Elaine Dunn recently had their memberships transferred from their previous churches to St. Andrew's in Bayfield and were welcomed as members by the congregation. Mrs. Myrtle Pease and Irvin, London spent the weekend at their village home. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Scotchmer, Robert, Lori and Carolyn, Chatham, spent the weekend at their residence in the Village. Mr. and Mrs. Rob Irwin and Robbie, London visited Sunday with his parents, the E.W. Erickson's. The U.C.W. of St. Andrew's United Church held a very successful Bake Sale on the lawn at the home of Ruth Makins.
