To operate summer playground
For the first time in many
years a summer playground
will be operational in the
village.
At the April meeting of the
Zurich and area Chamber of
Commerce President Joe
Risi said that officials of the
ministry of culture and
recreation had indicated
that the Chamber's request
under the Experience '78
youth employment program
would likely be approved.
The grant of $1350 will per-
mit the hiring of one
playground supervisor for
seven weeks and the hiring
of another individual to
• work approximately six
hours a day for six weeks at
the playground.
The Chamber set fees of $5
per child or $10 per family
for the use of the playground
and approved a motion that
would see the Chamber not
spend more than $200 on the
summer venture.
When Risi first suggested
a $500 limit be placed
treasurer. Ray McKinnon
objected. saying "We (the
Chamber) are not a service
club."
He added that the
playground would be "a
waste of money" if only ten
children attended.
Risi said he was sure that
the program would have
favourable response from
the village.
Oscar Greb of the
membership committee an-
nounced that the Chamber
has added six new members
with the possibility of two
more area residents ,joining
in the fall. Greb said
Marilyn Heimrich, Bernice
and Charles Eckel, Howard
Thiel and Judy Clausius had
joined the Chamber recent-
ly.
Risi welcomed the new
members who were present,

Your Precast Specialists
Your family is a very special
part of your life.
The family is our single most important social
institution, which is why your Ontario Government is
continuing to take steps to help support and strengthen
family life in the province. These include the family law
reform legislation and other programs such as; day
care, home support services for the elderly and
handicapped, special allowances to parents who care
for severely handicapped children, and community
living for the mentally retarded.
These programs are an indication of your
Government's commitment in supporting family life.
The health of our society depends upon the
health and security of your family.
