Local musical duo to record album
"You people make us feel
super. I've never seen so
many people in one place
that I've known."
As the good natured
bantering between the
audience and the performers
dies down, the crystal clear
voices of Roy MacAdams
and Helen Duguay ring
throughout the beverage
room of the Red Gables hotel
for the umpteenth show, a
number that these two
talented performers can't
recall.
Their stage name, You and
Me could notbe more fitting;
down to earth people who
play down to earth music. As

relationship, these two
complement each other in
terms of musical abilityand
physical characteristics.
Helen; diminutive, dark
wavy hair and outgoing.
Roy; six feet tall, straight
blond hair and reserved.
Their background prior to
a chance meeting at the
Central hotel 4n Oshawa
eight years ago is a -study in
contrasts.
Roy who was raised in Hay
township and attended high
school in Exeter and Clinton
began his musical career by
taking piano lessons in
Zurich and learning to play
the saxophone with help
from Grant Edighoffer, a
blind trumpet player in the
village. During a four year
stint in the air force Roy
began playing the guitar
because "there wasn't much
else to do." '
His first job professionally
was that of a base player for
a country and western band.
Following stints with a
number of bands, Roy first
teamed up with Helen in
1970.

village of St. Isadore, New
Brunswick, Helen spent
many years in a number of
bands before joining Roy.
Just as the band which
Helen had been singing with
broke up, Roy was forming a
band of his own.
While Roy and Helen have
been performing together
since 1970 with various
bands, You and Me was not
formed until 1975. One of
their more memorable
moments during this phase
of their career was playing
for six months at the
Whitehorse Inn in
Whitehorse, Yukon.
Returning to Ontario in
1975 this time as a duo, You
and Me played the circuit in
Ontario up until the early
portion of last year when
they ventured to the
Maritimes, playing in the
four provinces. The
Newfoundland audiences
"are great" stated. Helen.
An album for You and Me
is in the offing with a trip
planned for Nashville this
spring for that purpose. The
group had recorded a single
in 1975.
According to Roy, the
couple are hoping to expand
the group so that a wider
spectrum of music can be
covered.
You and Me: nice people
who play nice music.
