UNITED CHURCH NOTES
At a special service at Hen-
sall United Church Sunday
morning, featuring music and
song, the McMillan family of
Goderich, Don, Shirley, Ernie,
Eleanor and Elizabeth were the
special guests. They accompan-
ied the organ,with their instru-
ments all through the service.
The choir sang two numbers
and Rev. Don Beck preached
on the Meditation "Accept
yourself -- God Does." The
flowers were placed in memory
of the late Charles Miller,
Next Sunday will be the Sacra-
ment of Infant Baptism.
ST. PAUL'S CHURCH
The regular meeting of St.
Paul's Anglican Church Wom-
en was held November 14 at
the home of Mrs. Frank F orrest,
Helen Roberts gave the Invoc-
ation, after which hymn 549
was sung. Mrs. Elizabeth Riley
and Mrs. Forrest read the scrip-
ture after which Mrs. Anderson
led in prayer. The minutes of
the October meeting were read
and approved. It was decided
to send a donation to the Lon-
don Diocesian Treasurer. Mrs.
Anderson read portions from the
Huron Church News concerning
the clergy and their families
in the far north. The president
closed the meeting with prayer.
LEGION AUXILIARY
The November meeting of
the Legion Ladies Auxiliary
was held recentlyin the Legion
Hall. President Wanda Mc-
Clinchey presided. One new
member was accepted into the
rnembership, Kathleen Geiger,
of Zurich. The Ladies Auxil-
iary have catered to a wedding
and a Legion Men's Rememb-
rance Day supper. Tickets are
available from any Auxiliary
member on the Money Doll;
draw to be made on December
21. It was decided to exchange
gifts among members for the
Christmas meeting. Marg Mc-
Donald won the mystery prize,
Iva Reid the guessing prize,
and Mable Iviunn the attendance
prize.
Unit 1 of UCW
discuss union
Unit 1 of llensall
held their November meeting
Thursday afternoon with Mild-
red Kyle presiding. After her
call to worship hymn 394 was
sung accompanied at the piano
by Julene Keys.
Shirley Luther gave a very
thoughtful devotional using as
her theme "Peace, " using
scripture from John 16, telling
how " we may enjoy peace
within ourselves, as Jesus said
to his disciples, "1 have said
to you, that in me you may
have peace."
Mrs. Luther followed this
devotion by prayer and the
singing of hylnn 285. The off-
ering was taken and dedicated
by Mrs, Kyle.
The roll call was answered
by thirteen members and one
visitor. The minutes of the
October meeting were read and
also correspondence.
Mrs. Kyle conducted the
business which consited of
Unit 1 being asked to meet at
7:15 to conduct end of year
business before the general
Christmas meeting on Decemb-
er 2. Unit I is also responsible
to decorate the church for
Christmas, and the lunch for
December.
Everyone enjoyed two hum-
orous readings by Mrs. Kyle.
Rev. Don Beck showed a very
interesting film on "Plan of
Union." This -was a very int-
eresting insight of the possible
union of these three churches.
Mrs. Elder also gave the
treasurer's report, and thanked
all who had helped with ,the
meeting, and closed with the
benedictinn.
Mrs. Keys had an interesting
contest. The hostesses, Mrs.
Vera Drysdale and Mrs. Dor-
een Spencer served a delicious
lunch.
Couples club meet
at Hensall church
Couples frau Cannel, Caven
and Cromarty Presbyterian
churches met for a monthly
get-together on Monday even-
ing. Jim Dougall was elected
president, and Margaret Hog-
garth offered to act as secret-
ary. Three carloads took off
for a scavenger hunt of the area,
Jim and Mary Dougall, Al and
Margaret Hoggarth won prizes
for the most items on the list
collected. Wayne and Sharon
Love, and Phillip and Pearl
James won the booby prize.
A delicious lunch was enjoyed
by all. The Christmas meeting
will be held at the Hensell
church an December 11. All
couples are welcome.
