tidbits
Last week I wrote that a
friend of mine had been fined
for driving on the shoulder of
the road to let traffic pass by.
As a result I got a call from
the chief of the Winghaui OPP,
advising me that this can't be
true, for there's nothing in
the Highway Traffic Act that
would authorize a police offic-
er to lay such a charge.
At the time of writing I have
not been able to contact my
friend for an explanation. It
appears then that a farrier
driving a slow tractor is allowed
to go on the shoulder to let
faster traffic pass. I apologize
for any inconvenience I may
have caused.

our community by removing
hampering restrictions of useful-

help from the young people.

Smiles
After the workshop speaker
had finished, a woman
approached him and said, "You
were much better than the
speaker we had last summer. He
spoke for one hour and said
nothing."
"Thank you, " the speaker
replied.
"Yes," she contintied, "and
you did it in fifteen minutes."
Taken to the ballet for the first
time the little boy watched
curiously as the dancers cavorted
about on their toes.
"Mom," he finally whispered
loudly, "why don't they just get
taller people?"
