In other business it was not-
ed that $99, 050. had been issu-
ed in building permits for the
month of October and council
learned that vandals had remov-
ed three letters M, C and G from
the front of the Municipal Off-
ice. These are very expensive
letters. If anyone knows the
whereabouts of these, would
they see that they are returned
to their proper place or notify
the office as to where they may
be found.
In polling the present reeve
and councillors as to their int-
ention of running for office in
the forthcoming municipal
election, reeve Ed Oddleifson
said he would be in the running
for reeve; councillor Frank
McFadden is undecided; coun-
cillor Ted Gozzard said a def-
inite no; councillor Don Warn-
er is undecided, and councillor
Milvena Erickson indicated
she would seek another term.
Nomination papers are obtain-

Zurich Public School
wins cross-country
(by Elizabeth Datars)
Wednesday, October 30, was
a cloudy and damp day, but
the Cross Country Tournament
scheduled to be held at the
Pineridge Chalet near Hensall,
was still on.
After receiving our racing
numbers we loaded the bus with
,35 enthusiastic runners. We had
been practicing every noon hour
for the last one and one-half
weeks and soon our efforts woulc
pay off.
After a short drive we arrived
at the Chalet and waited for
the rest of the schools to come.
After everyone had arrived, we
were led around the course
which took us through ploughed
fields,bushes, and ditches.
After finishing the tour it felt
as if we had walked four miles,
but our teachers assured us it
was only 2 miles.
The first group to run was the
Senior Boys and I am proud to
say that we walked away with
the Senior Boys Cross Country
Championship. We also won
three individual awards; Senior
Boys, Doug Deichert; Senior
Girls, Maureen Erb and Junior
Boys, Billy Livingston.
