Deichert picnic
held
The annual Deichert picnic
was held Sunday, July 28 at the
• home ,of Mr. and Mrs. Earl .
Miller, R, R, 2, Dashwood, with
about 85 in attendance. •
Results of the games and
races were as follows: girls

Following the supper a short
business meeting was held.

office for'the coming year;

Treasurer, Claire Deichert;
sports 'committee, Mr. and Mrs,
Herb Keller; Mr. and Mrs. Alb-
ert Richert; Lunch committee,
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Eichler
and Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Pepper.
Greetings were received from
Mr. and Mrs. Willi Kammerer,
of Ogema, Sask„ The 1975 •
picnic will be held at the home
of Mr, and Mrs, Claire Deich-
ert, R,R,1, Zurich.

'visited with her'mother, Mrs.
S. Ervine, on Monday,

Albion Hotel for the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Parker,
Willowdale, visited with his
mother, Mrs. Myrtle Parker for
the weekend.

replied quickly. "It is just that,
like you, we probably envy

This statement added two other
nationalities to his list.
Our conversation was inter-
rupted by the noise of a small
freight train corning from the
Grecian side of the border.
The station master, who liked
no nationality, not even the
Greeks, then put up a great arg-
ument with the train crew to
get them to take me across in
the engine to the Greek border
post so that I would not have to
wait the entire day in that tiny
village. Not exactly legal proc-
edure, but then he really put
himself out to get me across.
The Greek train crew was no
less kind.
As I rode off in the engine
and waved good-bye to the
station master, it struck me as
highly ironic that, in a world
where hate was so predominant,
people could still be as kind to
me as anywhere else.
What a funny world we live
in!

at his village residence on Clan
