Zurich Mets win one,
The Zurich Mets posted a
win and a loss during the past
week's activity in Huron -Perth
Baseball League action. Last
Tuesday night they registered
a 3-1 victory over the powerful
Exeter Expos, but then on Fri-
day night they fell short when
they bowed to the Clinton
Colts, t~-0,
Veteran Dick Bedard came
up with one of his finest pitch-
ing efforts in some years in
Exeter last Tuesday night, as
he gave up only five scattered
bits to hold the Expos to one
lone run. He struck out seven
batters and walked only two.
While Bedard was holding the
Exeter crew off, his team-mate
Rick Schilbe was pounding out
the ball with little trouble off
the pitching efforts of Randy
Decker and Dean McKnight.
He connected for two singles
and a double, and figured in
all three Zurich runs.
Nen Clarke came through
with a double for the locals,
while Gerard Charrette, Glen
Overholt and Aubrey Bedard all
hit singles. As well as their
seven hits, the Mets picked up
three bases on balls and three

free passes on hit batters.
Zurich scored their first run
in the second inning, when
Schilbe singled, stole second
and then scored on Ken Clarke's
double. Their second run carne
in the sixth frame when Schilbe
reached first on a walk, and
then went all the way around
on singles by Glen Overholt and
Aubrey Bedard. The third run
carne in the seventh when Ron
Corriveau was given a free pass
and then scored on Schilbe's
double.
Exeter's lone run came in the
first inning when Tieman work-
ed a base on balls, and scored
on successive singles by Terry
Bourne and Revington.
On Friday night against the
Clinton Colts the Mets did not
fair near as well, as they came
out on the short end of an 8-0
score. The Colts scored twice
in both the first and third inn-
ings, and then came up with a
big rally in the fifth when they
chased four more runners across
the plate.
Brad Dutot, on the mound
for Clinton, came up with an
outstanding performance as he
gave up only three scattered hits

Huron County
concerned about
(continued from page 1)
"would reduce the autonomy
and coverage of local health
units."
County Warden Bill Elston
said he got the impression from
reading the report, that "people
will be reduced to the point
where they don't have personal
doctors anymore."
Mr. Berry agreed that was
one of the impressions he got
front the report but added,
"you'd need a Philadelphia
Lawyer to interpret it."
Goderich deputy reeve Stan
Profit labelled rhe report
"socialism beyond David Lewis'
wildest dreams. And I thought
we got rid of him,"
Mr. Berry said he thought
the health-care proposals would
create too much red tape. '"The
government has always talked
about doing away with special
purpose bodies, but here they
are turning around and creating
another one,"
Warden Elston said he part-
icularly objected to the min-
ister's insistance that replies
to the report be filed by Sept-
ember 1. "How the devil could
we possibly get objections in
by then?" he asked.
Warden Elston said he plans
to go to a Perth County Board
of health meeting, July 29 to
hear further explanations of the
report by Dr. Robert Walker,
-the ministry's area planning co-
ordinator for Southwestern Ont-
ario.
