INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE
On Wednesday, June 19,
the Presbytery of Stratford -Hur-
on met in Knox Presbyterian
Church in Bayfield. The ladies
of the church served a dinner
to the presbyters and during the
course of the meeting John
Hamilton and Stephen Farris
the student ministers, conducted
a short worship service.
This week is Senior Citizens
Week and we extend best wishes
to all our Senior Citizens in
the village.
Bayfield Lions met in the
Community Centre for a dinner
meeting and installation of
officers on Tuesday evening
June 11.
John Boyes was inducted into
the Lions Club, by Deputy Dist-
rict Governor, Richard Erb, of
Zurich. Officers for the 1974-
75 are as follows, President,
Jack Merner; first vice-presid-
ent, Ross Merrill; second vice-
president, Lloyd Westlake,
third vice-president, Don John-
ston; treasurer, Harry Baker;
Secretary, Ken Knights; tail
twister, Al Amy; Lion Tamer,
George Clark; Song Leader,
Grant Stirling; first year direct-
ors, Eric Earl and Ernie Hovey
and second year directors, Wal-
ter Orr and Fred Hulls,
During the business meeting
it was decided to put a float
into the Sea forth Lions Parade
on June 22 as this is their 50th
Anniversary; and plans were
discussed for Bayfield Lions Club
annual summer carnival to be
held on July 26.
Mr. George Lindsay, Hali-
fax, Nova Scotia recently
spent four days with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John Lindsay.
Mr. and Mrs, Eric Earl had
as their guests last week, his
mother, Mrs. W. Earl, of
London and his brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs. A.
Lawton, Tel Aviv, Israel.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Armstrong
honoured his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. William D. Armstrong
at a surprise 25th wedding ann-
iversary celebration at their
home at R.R.3, Bayfield. Mr.
and Mrs. Armstrong were mar-
ried in Goderich on June 6,
1949. Mrs. Armstrong is the
former Maude MacMath, of
Goderich. The couple have
five children, Doug, R.R.3,
Bayfield; Alan, Winnie, Julia
and James, all at home.
Mrs, Orville Gemeinhardt,
daughter Lois and grandson of
Saginaw, Michigan, who had
been holidaying in Grand Bend,
visited the former's sister-in-
law, Mrs, J.B. Sturgeon and
other relatives in the area on
Wednesday.
Mrs. Gordon A. Stewart,
12.12.2, Ripley and Mrs. Will-
iam Kempton of Amberley,
visited the fornier's sister,
Mrs. E, W. Erickson on Wednes-
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Grif-
fin, London, spent Wednesday
with Mrs, L,B, Smith.
Guests with Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd Westlake on Saturday were
her aunt, Mrs. Gordon Johnston,
of Paris and cousin, Mr. Lloyd
Johnston.
Friends and relatives of Miss
Norma Garrett celebrated with
her on her 16th birthday at her
home on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ton Handy,
Seaforth, spent the weekend
with her daughter, Mrs. Marg-
aret Garrett and family.
Mr. Harvey MacDougall rep-
orted that Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Baker have a nesting of five
bluebird eggs on their property.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hughes
accompanied Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd Makins to Frankenmuth,
Michigan on Thursday and
attended the Bavarian Festival.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Overboe,
Scott and Theresa, London,
visited with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Son McLeod, Dawn
and John for the weekend.
Mr, and Mrs, Robert Meyer,
Michelle and Marsha, Water-
loo, were weekend guests of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Spinny
Ervine.
Mrs. Bruce Lynn and Deborah,
Toronto were at their village
residence for the weekend.
The Hardknox Coffee House
in Knox Presbyterian Church
has opened for the summer and
is open on Saturday nights at
present. From June 28 to the
end of the season it will be
operating on Friday and Saturda;
nights. All youth are invited,
and throughout the summer they
hope to have special music.
