VISIT ZOO
(by Trudy VandenBoomen)
On June 4 the St. Boniface
students in grade 6 and 7
accompanied the kindergarten
pupils to Ark Park Zoo, Dor-
chester. Their supervisors were
Airs. Lucile Masse, Airs. Irene
Hoffman, I\ Ir. Lee Regier,
Mrs. Cecilia Farwell, Mr.
and Mrs. O.D. Legault and Airs.
Margaret Suplat.
While there, the pupils saw
animals both wild and domestic,
in outdoor fenced off areas and
in cages.
The 6 and 7 students were
paired with the kindergarten
pupils and were responsible for
them. The small children were
taught songs and were helped
with booklets prepared the day
before. The kindergarteners
were taught animal names and
where the animals came from.
They also petted and fed the
animals popcorn.
The heard the sounds of some
of the animals, especially a
mother swan hissing to protect
her cygnet. Then they worked
in their books, working puzzels
and colouring pictures. On the
bus some of the kindergarten
pupils slept on rhe way home.
