Zurich loses baseball opener
Even though they lost rhe
opening garne of their Huron -
Perth Baseball league schedule
on Sunday afternoon, the
Zurich Mets showed local fans
they have plenty of promise
and will be strong contenders
before the season ends. They
came out on the shore end of a
14-6 score when they played
host to the powerful Clinton
Colts, last. year's OBA champ-
ions.
Up until the disastrous eighth
and ninth innings the local squ-
ad were right in the ball game,
holding the score at 7-0. Clin-,
ton came through with three big
runs in the eighth and then
added four more in rhe ninth.
Zurich scored two runs in
the second, two in the fifth and
then added one more in both
the seventh and ninth innings.
John Mommersteeg srarted
on the around for the locals and
held things well under control
in the five innings he worked.
Momnhersteeg left little doubt
in anyone's ]hind that he wi11
be rough before the season pro-
gresses very far. He struck out
six men, and walked only one.
