Zurich loses baseball opener Even though they lost rhe opening garne of their Huron - Perth Baseball league schedule on Sunday afternoon, the Zurich Mets showed local fans they have plenty of promise and will be strong contenders before the season ends. They came out on the shore end of a 14-6 score when they played host to the powerful Clinton Colts, last. year's OBA champ- ions. Up until the disastrous eighth and ninth innings the local squ- ad were right in the ball game, holding the score at 7-0. Clin-, ton came through with three big runs in the eighth and then added four more in rhe ninth. Zurich scored two runs in the second, two in the fifth and then added one more in both the seventh and ninth innings. John Mommersteeg srarted on the around for the locals and held things well under control in the five innings he worked. Momnhersteeg left little doubt in anyone's ]hind that he wi11 be rough before the season pro- gresses very far. He struck out six men, and walked only one.
