ALL .ABOUT BAYFIEL INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRE1`IJEST VILLAG On Tuesday evening, May 14, Bayfield Lions Club sponsored a Father and Son hockey Team Banquet. One hundred and two guests including 01 hockey players enjoyed a turkey supper in the Bayfield Community Centre, Darren Telford, Michael Tel- ford and Dale Stephenson, rep- resenting the hockey teams, presented gifts to their coaches, George Telford, Glen Sturgeon, Gerry Uniac and Don Johnston and to the referees, Tim West and John Graham, followed by the distribution of hockey jackets to all the members of the four teams, by George Tel- ford and Don Johnston. Charles Scotchmer then showed a much enjoyed film of the Canada - Russia Hockey series, courtesy of Labatt's Breweries. This past season, Bayfield Lions Club donated $600 towards ice time for practice sessions for all the teams comprised of Bayfield and area youths. A delightful bus trip to the Henry Ford Museum and Green- field Village, Michigan, was enjoyed by 27 members of the Bayfield Senior Citizens, one guest from the Seaforth senior citizens and ten from Clinton joined then. in Trinity Anglican Church Parish Hall, Colleen Merner, whose marriage takes place to Mr. Wayne Hopkins on Friday, May 31, was honoured at a community shower on Tuesday evening, May 21, arranged by Trinity Church Ladies Guild. The bride -elect and her mother, Mrs. Merton Mernce and her grandmother, Mrs. Walter West- lake were all presented with corsages upon their arrival. These had all been fashioned by Mrs. Joe Mayman. Karen Fitzsimons pinned the corsages on Colleen, Mrs. Roy Fitzsimons on Mrs. Merner and Mrs. Fred Weston on Mrs. Westlake. The program included a reading "How to Preserve A Husband" by Mrs, Fitzsimons. Several contests were enjoyed. Following the program, Mrs. J.B. Higgins read an address and asked Colleen to accept the lovely gifts. She was assist- ed in opening the gifts by her sister, Dawn Merner and Misses Barbara Graham, Valerie and Kathy Merner and Karen Fitz- simons. The girls also fashioned a very colourful apron by pinn- ing the ribbons and bows from the parcels onto it. In express- ing her thanks for all the lovely gifts and the honour accorded her; Colleen also invited anyone who was travelling in British Columbia to visit her in her new home in Coquitlarn. The Ladies Guild then served a dainty and delicious lunch. Congratulations to Gary and Rhea (Sturgeon) Potter on the safe arrival of their baby daughter, Merry Nicole, in Alexandra Marine and General hospital, Goderich on Wednes- day May 22. She is the first granddaughter for Jack and Evelyn Sturgeon and first great- granddaughter for Mrs. John Sturgeon, all of Bayfield. Congratulations to Patricia King Fellows, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Fellows of Grosse Ile, Michigan, and William Wallace Gammage, son of Mr. and Mrs. William W. Gammage, of London, who are being married on July 6 in Trinity Anglican Church, Bay- field. The young couple are both graduates of the University of Western Ontario and the fam- ilies are both cottage residents of Glitter Bay, just north of Bayfield. Kim is also a grand- daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fraser, of the village.
