Ontario Provincial Police are
investigating Toronto lawyer,
Joseph Burnett's involvement
in the potato wholesale busin-
ess in Metro Toronto, solicitor
general Geroge Kerr, indicated
in the Legislature. Mr. Kerr
said Mr. Burnett's business
operations are also part of an
investigation into laundering
of money in Toronto. Appar-
ently the three largest potato
wholesale campanies in the
Toronto area have closed corp-
orate ties and farmers have
complained they cannot get a
fiar price in dealing with them.
Mr. Burnett owns a sudbury
fruit company and lent $600,
000. to Rocco and Gordon Cap-
puccitty, the largest dealers in
Ontario grown potatoes in the
Metro Area. Mr. Kerr said the
investigation into the potato
industry does not necessary
include just Mr. Burnett. Ile
said it might lead to charges
under the combines investigat-
ion act.
Three major Oil Companies
have increased gasoline prices
to dealers by more than 9¢ a
gallon which will probably wear
a 10¢ increase at the minimum
to Ontario's motorists.
Premier William Davis said
there are no plans to review or
stall the increase in gasoline

prices at the moment but he
could not see any reason for
prices going up as much as
they have which might suggest
that there will be some possible
future Ontario action over oil
and gasoline pricing.
It was estimated that the
stock of oil and oil products
produced at the old price of
$4.00 a barrel for oil at the
well head would last until May.
Mr. Davis told the legislature
he found it hard to understand
an increase beyond the estim-
ated 7¢ that was agreed to at the
Ottawa conference six weeks
ago. Ontario residents pay a
total of $44 million for each
1¢ increase in the price of a

The Ontario government has
changed its mind for the second
time and decided denturists
should be allowed to work indep-
endent of supervision by dentists
if they passed qualifying exam-
inations. Health Minister Frank
Miller said that the denturists
who wrote the examination to
qualify to work under dentists
now would be able to work indep
endently. However, they will
have to pass upgrading examin-
ations when they are set. Dent-
ure Therapists will riot be allowec
to make partial dentures except
under dentists supervision. They
will be restricted to full upper
and lower plates for fitting in
a mouth where no Teeth remain
in the upper or lower jaw or
both. Making a partial denture
is a much more complicated
procedure than making a full
plate according to Mr. Miller,
because of possible problems
with adjacent teeth and so this
work should be supervised by a
' dentist.
Ontario Hydro is to be allow-
ed to expropriate certain lands
required for relocation of a
Canadian Pacific Rail Line to
make way for the controversial
dam near Arnprior. However,
it has been refused the go ahead
it sought to acquire other land
it needed to use only during the
dam construction and for a trans
mission line for which hydro
had no firm plan. Hydro may
re -apply for expropriation of
further land when it can more
precisely state how much land
it needs and where the trans-
mission line will be built. Other
wise the way is cleared for the
$50 million dam.
Environrnent Minister, Will -

enquiry officer's findings that
hydro's evidence about how
much land it needed and for
what purposes was vague and
unconvincing.

Sidney Handleman, said this
week that house prices are on
the way down and will bring
