William F. Braun, of Zurich, is moving his household effects to the town of Forest, where he is establishing a plumbing business. Mr. P. Raveile has been ap- pointed as mail courier for R, R.3, Zurich, and will com- mence his duties immediately. He has purchased a new Ford runabout car from Cook Bros, in Hensall. Dr. G, L. Smith, of Hensall, has disposed of his dental pract- ice to Dr. Knapp, of Toronto, and he will now return to Chic- ago. John Steacey, of the Sterling Bank in Hensall, is at present on vacation, and his position is being filled by a Mr. Sellers. Ward Fritz is at Dashwood this week taking stock at the hardware business he recently purchased from Restemayer and Kleinstiver. The business men in the vill- age of Dashwood have agreed to observe every Thursday aft- ernoon as a half holiday for the summer months. 35 Years Ago On Monday evening the chil- dren of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kalbfleisch, Hay Township, gathered at their home to obs- erve their 51st wedding anniv- ersary. The easterly part of the house owned by Mr. and Mrs. Norm- an Gascho in Zurich is being renovated to accommodate a milinery business for Miss Anna Datars. Mr. E.H. Edighoffer, the new cobbler for the village of Zuricl is about ready to open his shop for business. He is a shoe mak- er from early days, and is quite experienced at rhe trade. Miss Doreen Farquhar, who has been the book-keeper for Bonthron and Drysdale for the past number of years, has res- igned her'position since she plans on becoming a bride this month. The school in Hensall has re- opened this week after being closed for some time owing to an outbreak of scarlet fever in the district. A very pretty wedding was solemnized at the Lutheran Church in Desboro when Milton Desch, of Zurich, and Lenita Minke, of near Chesley, were married by Rev Albert Datars. Mr. Ed Wein, of Zurich, had the misfortune last evening to have a large hole burned in the roof a bis blacksmith shoo. 25 Years Ago Larry Jones, four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Jones, Hensall, suffered a fractured right shoulder and facial injuries when he fell from a milk wagon. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tudor have moved their ladies' wear store in Hensall across the street into the new building erected by Ed Fink. Plans are being finalized for the visit of Prime Minister Louis St. Laurant to Zurich, on June 3. He will have lunch at St. Peter's Parish Ilall, St. Joseph. A public meeting was held in the Zurich Town Hall last night, in the interests of J. Elgin McKinley, the Progressive Con- servative candidate in the forth- coming election. The Hay Township School Area board, at their meeting last week, authorized auction- eer Alvin Waiper to arrange an acution sale to dispose of two school buildings and the land they are situated on, and a third, property only. Fire on Sunday afternoon completely destroyed a barn on the farm of Horton McDoug- all, six miles east of Hensall. 0 Watch out for flying fishhooks and don't be a careless caster.
