Zurich Citizens News, 1974-05-23, Page 2PAGE 2 ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS THURSDAY, MAY 23, 1974 News of The Family and Consumers Affairs meeting was held at the Legion Hall, Hensall. on May 15 when three 4-H girls club's commented on the proj- ect, "Taking a look at Your- self," Kippen I's exhibit was "Do's and Don'ts of personal Cleanliness ; Kippen II; "A Place for everything", and Kippen III, "Hair Care." Mrs. J. Drummond, Public Relations Officer, presented gifts to the leaders of the clubs, Mrs. J. Bell, Mrs. L. Finlayson, Mrs. A. Hummel, Mrs. Al Hogg- arth, Mrs. A. Postma and Mrs. L. Beane. The roll call was answered by naming, "The little things that make life beautiful." Readings were giv- en by Mrs. R. Bell, Mrs. R. Kinsman, Mrs. Al Hoggarth and Mrs. C. Pullman. The song of the dish towels was sung by Mrs. Al Hoggarth, Mrs. A. Hummel, Mrs. J. Drummond, Mrs. A Hummel, a new member was presented with a pin and hand- book. Mrs. R. Kinsman gave a report of the conference and Mrs R. B,roadfoot gave the Citizen- ship and World Affairs Report. Mrs. Campbell Eyre, Mrs. H. Caldwell, Mrs. J. Sinclair and Mrs, William Bell will be in charge of the 40th Anniversary Celebration. Mrs. H. Caldwell gave courtesy remarks. Kinsman, president, was in charge of business and Mrs. Al Hoggarth chaired the prog- ram. Mrs.. Grant McGregor and her committee served banana splits prior to the meet- ing., Mrs. R. Bell, Mrs. R. Kinsman, Mrs. J. Drummond, Mrs. A. Hummel, Mrs. J. Sinclair, Mrs. E. Whitehouse, Mrs. Al Hoggarth, Mrs. H. Caldwell attended the South Huron District Annual in Zurich on May 16. Mr. Brad Littleton, Wood- stock, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Littleton. Visitors with Lorne McBride were Mr. Wilbur McBride, Kit- chener and Mr. and Mrs. Stew- art Beattie, Wingham. Mr. Elzar Mousseau, who has been hospitalized in Seaforth has returned home. 0 Henson Miss Gail Travers sang a solo "Pass it On" accompanied on the piano by her brother Tom for the service of Worship in Hensall United Church on Sunday morning. "Politics" was the topic Rev Don Beck chose to preach on. The flowers in the church were from the wedd- ing of Monty Plumb and Debbie Ferris. At St. Pauls Anglican Church, the sacrament of Infant Baptism was administered to Timothy Packham, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Packham, by Rev. G.A. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Forrest and Clark accompanied the singing The regular meeting of St. Pauls Anglican Church Women was held Thursday afternoon in the church basement. After packing a bale to St. James Church at Fort Hope, Mrs, Anderson opened the meeting with the member's prayer. The organization of the first A.C.W. was read by Helen Roberts, it being formed on January 8, 1893 Mrs. Forrest read the Invocation and the meeting closed with everyone repeating the Living Message Prayer. HURON -MIDDLESEX FEDERAL LIBERAL NOMINATION CONVENTION The Huron -Middlesex Liberal Association has called a nominating convention to be held at Huron Central Secondary School Auditorium Clinton M i' NDAY, MAY 27, 1974 . at 8:15 p.m. for the purpose of selecting a candidate to represent the Liberal Party in the riding of Huron -Middlesex In the forthcoming federal election SPECIAL SPEAKER Dr. MARK MacGUIGAN M.P. for Windsor-Walkerville, Parliamentary Secretary to;Minlster of Manpower and Immigration MEMBERSHIPS: _The constitution provides that only paid up members of the Huron -Middlesex Liberal Association shall be en- titled to vote. Such memberships must be obtained not gess that 92 hours prior to the commencement of the con- vention. Renewals of previous memberships however may be obtained up to the time set for commencement of the convention. Memberships, which cost S2 each, may be obtained from the Liberal Association chairman in the various municipalities within the riding and by mail from Harold Shore, Secretary, Goderich or Arnold Stinnissen, Assistant Secretary, Seatorth. . The residents enjoyed a song service on Sunday evening spon- :ored by the Christian Women's Club of South Huron. The Goderich Township vol- unteers were at the Home on Monday to assist with the after- noon program. Mrs. Molly Cox Mrs. Driver, Norman Speir, and Jerry Collins provided the old tyme music for the activit- ies. The residents of ground floor north and centre were guests on Tuesday evening of the Clinton Kinette Club. Twenty- six ladies took advantage of the outing held in the Clinton Public School with transportat- ion provided by members of the Club and the van. The guests arrived at 6:30 and after being presented with corsages they were served a delicious smorg- asbord supper in the cafeteria. A musical program and sing- song made a very pleasant evening for the folks and many thanks are extended to the Kinettes for a very worthy proj- ect. The Auburn Women's Instit- ute were hosts on Wednesday for the May Birthday Party and presented gifts to the 24 celebrants. Mrs, Tom Haggitt was M.C. for the afternoon and also gave two readings with mouth organ selections by Robert Turner, piano solos Mrs. Jackson, duets Mrs. Donald Haines and Mrs. R.J. Phillips, sing -a -long by Mrs. Gordon • Taylor. One of the celebrants, Mrs. Cartwright, thanked the Institute on behalf of the resid- ents and lunch was served by the ladies. Mr. Art Finlayson of Seaforth arranged a musical program for "Family Night" and joined Mrs. Wilma MacLean with guitar and accordian selections. Mr. Carl Oesch, of Zurich and daughters Kim and Jane, and Ruth Gingerich provided several vocal and instrumental numb- ers.
