The annual grandmother's
meeting of Dashwood Women's
Institute was held Tuesday,
May 8 with the Agriculture and
Canadian Industries group in
charge and Mrs. John Rader,
convener. Guests besides the
grandmothers were the 4-H girls
who presented their skits and
displays. Provincial honors
girls, Janice Hayter and Jane
Merrier were presented gifts
from the Institute as well as
County Honors girls, Jane
Hayter, Carolyn Hartman,
Donna Riddell and Brenda Kipf-
er, The leaders also received
token gifts.
The meeting opened with a
pot luck supper with 17 member;
and 42 visitors. Prizes were
awarded to the grandmothers as
follows --grandmother with
birthday closest to meeting
date, Mrs. Ernest Koehler;
youngest, Mrs, Bill Berends;
most buttons, Mrs. Alda Struyke
lady present who will never be
a grandmother, Mrs. Letta
Taylor. Roll call was answered
giving the reason how changing
agriculture is changing our
lives. Mrs. Ray Rader commen-
ted on the motto; The price of
success is honest toil. Kim
Gaiser favoured with piano
selections, Mrs. Emil Becker
gave a reading, "My old
quilting frame" and Mrs.
Letta Taylor, "Why grand-
mother can be so gay."
Mrs. Gordon Bender, presi-
dent, dealt with the business.
The W.I. will entertain at the
Bluewater Rest Horne May 9,
and Huronview in September.
The group conveners presented
their programs for the year.
Two new members were wel-
comed. Bunco rounded out the
evening with the winners Mrs.
Beulah DesJardine and Mrs.
Grant.

Charlene Marie Jeffrey and
Donald James Oesch exchanged
marriage vows in St. Peter's
Roman Catholic Church, on
Saturday, April 27, 1974 at
2;30 p.m.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Jeffrey,
R. R.2, Zurich, and the groom's
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Milt-
on Oesch, Zurich.
Father J. Bensette officiated
and organist, Mrs. Matilda Rau
accompanied the soloist, Miss
Julie Rau.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride was charming
in her white floor length prin-
cess styled gown of peau de soie,
trimmed with lace. She carried
a colonial bouquet of red roses,
white stephanotis and white
ribbons.
Maid of honour, Elaine
Jeffrey, sister of the bride,
a deep blue crirnplene gown
and bridesmaids, Jo -Anne Stade,
Julie Gelinas, and Pam O'Brien
wore similar gowns in shades of
mint green, yellow and pink.
They carried colonial bouquets
of white shasta daisies and
coloured summer mist. Rene
wore
Denomme, of London was flow-
er girl and she wore a dress of
white peau de soie, and carried
a colonial bouquet of red roses ,
white stephanotis and ribbons.
Doug Coxon was best man
and Gerard Charrette, Gary
Jeffrey and Mozart Gelinas
ushered guests. Brent O'Brien
was ring bearer.
The wedding reception was
held at the Zurich Community
Centre.
After returning from a wedding
trip to Niagara Falls the couple
are now residing at R.R.3,
Zurich.
The bride is employed with
the Bank of Montreal, Grand
Bend and the groom with Jeff-
rey Brothers Construction, Zur-
ich.

donate bus for
mentally retarded
The South Huron and District
Association for the Mentally
Retarded has received a new
bus, donated by the Grand Bend
Lions.
The monthly meeting of the
Board of Directors last week
was told that the bus will seat
15 passengers. It has been paint-
ed in the Lions colors and will
be officially presented at the
Association general meeting at
ARC Industries, on May 22.
Also at the general meeting,
Warren Robinson, a teacher
from Goderich District Colleg-
iate, will present a play he
wrote about retarded persons
entitled "Them," Nine colleg-
iate students will act in it.
The director received a rep-
ort on the Flowers of Hope
Campaign. It has gone so well
that plans are being made to
increase the order of seeds for
next year.
ARC Industries has received
an offer from the Dashwood
Chamber of Commerce to lands-
cape their property.
