Plan renovation sale
The Tender Spot in Grand
Bend, owned by a former res-
ident of this area, Leo Masse,
has just completed extensive
renovations. To mark the
completion of the project, the
Tender Spot is staging a huge
Renovation Sale this weekend.
Details will be found on page
nine of this edition of the
Citizens News.
With the completion of the
renovations the Tender Spot
now has about 2500 square
feet of floor space for customer
shopping, with additional space
at the rear for a meat -cutting
department. A number of new
refrigeration units have been
added to the store for the conv-
enience' "of customers.
In addition a quick freezing
unit has been installed at the
Tender Spot to facilitate the
processing of orders for quarters
and halves of beef, as well as
pork.
Nine to ten staff members
are always on hand at the
Tender Spot to offer friendly
and efficient service to cust-
omers.
During the weekend renovat-
ion sale many special buys are
offered the public, and as an
added feature on Thursday and
Friday mornings the first t
customers will each receive a
free loaf of bread. On Saturday
the 50th and 100th customer
entering the store will be given
a $10 gift certificate.
Another feature during the
big sale will be a weight-quess-
ing contest, in which the win-
ner will receive a free ham.
And of course, there will be
free balloons for the kids visit-
ing the store with their parents.

Beef management
The size of a heifer at breed-
ing is more important than
age. Over the first winter, a
heifer•should gain 1 to 1-1/2
pounds per day, so that she will
weigh at least 650 pounds by
breeding time. A" ration of good
quality hay (full -fed) and 3 to
4 pounds of grain daily will
provide the energy and protein
needed.
Cobalt -iodized salt, calcium,
phosphorus and vitamin A
should be supplemented. But
the amount varies depending
on the quality of hay and grain
fed. The. commercial mineral
mixes available should be prov-
ided free choice or mixed with
ration.
