The sports and recreation
branch of the ministry of com-
munity and social services is
overseeing the program. Two
ministry representatives, C.M.
Bitton, of Hanover, and Donald
Reid, of London, attended the
meeting Tuesday.
The groups are set up for lay
members of municipal recreation
committees. The consultants
provide resource information.
The clusters have been establ-
ished in geographically similar
areas with towns and villages of
similar size and problems group-
ed together.
The 25 representatives of the
meeting made suggestions for
the operation of the groups. The
suggestions included a forum for
discussing mutual problems such
as arena management and train-
ing of staff.
It was also suggested that
groups could provide information
regarding available services to
avoid future duplication. The
need for a central information
source on government grants
was also discussed.
Representatives stressed the
necessity of setting up a cost
breakdown for facilities used
by towns and townships.
