Mrs. Maude Weston; secretary,
and press reporter, Mrs. Greta
Scotchmer; treasurer, Mrs.
Lorna Mernerl card and flowers,
secretary, Mrs. Bessie Hulls.
All members are to be on the
visiting committee. The beaut-
iful installation service was
conducted by the Rector, who
then vacated the chair and the
new president assumed her office
She thanked the members for
the honour of being chosen pres-
ident and also thanked the past
president for her work and req-
uested the same help for herself
in this the 125th anniversary of
the building of the church.
Mrs. Bessie Hulls, new card
and flower secretary, asked
that anyone in the church who
knew of someone ill or in the
hospital to let her know so that
she can send cards and flowers
from the Guild.
More equipment is to be pur-
chased for the Parish Hall with
Mrs. Lorna Merner as purchasing
agent.
Two new committees were
formed with Mrs. Flo Youmat-
off in charge of posters and Mrs.
Ruth Mutzelburg in charge of
crafts. More committees are to
be added as required.
The date for the annual
Christmas Bazaar was set for
Saturday, November 23, and a
Euchre and Bridge party for
Friday, April 19.
A work meeting will be held
to prepare quilt tops for quilting.
The February meeting will be
held in the Parish Hall on Feb-
ruary 12 with Mrs. Fern Baker
as hostess. The meeting closed
with all members repeating the
benediction and lunch was serv-
ed by Mrs. Greta Scotchmer,
hostess for the evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parker visit-
ed on Wednesday with relatives
in Mitchell. Sunday visitors
with the Parkers were their son
and family, Mr. and Mrs. W.C.
Parker, Charlie, Kim and Jen-
nifer of London. Jennifer cele-
brated her first birthday with her
grandparents.

The open air skating rink in
Zurich is now ready for use,
with a good thick layer of ice
on it.
The entire council of the
Township of Hay were returned
to office by acclamation, incl-
uding reeve E.F. Klopp, and.
councillors L.H. Rader, A.
Reichert, J.P. Rau and W.R.
Dougall.
Four candidates qualified for
election as trustees of the police
village of Zurich; Henry Truem-
ner, P. Haberer, Dennis Bedard,
and Michael Meidinger.
Herbert K. Kalbfleisch, who
has spent the holiday season
with his parents on the 16th
concession, has returned to
Waterloo Seminary, where he
will resume his studies,
Richard and Tuffield Denomy,
along with Ross Johnston, all of
Detroit, spent -the holidays at
their homes in Blake.
R.C. Hay, who has been the
solicitor for Huron County for
more than 20 years, has tender-
ed his resignation from that
position.

Miss Eleanor Fisher; Who for
many years served as organist
of the Hensall United Church,
was presented with some luggage
prior to her departure for Grav-
enhurst.
Rev. W ;A. Young, of Hensall,
was elected president of the
Hensall School Fair, at their
annual meeting.
Mr. Anson McKinley has
returned to Clinton where he is
attending Collegiate Institute,
after spending the holidays at
the home of his parents, on the
Goshen Line north.
Mrs. Clayton Pfile had the
misfortune to fall on the side-
walk in front of their shoe store
at Dashwood, and she suffered
serious injuries to her head.

holiday dinner at the new Ritz
Hotel, Bayfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thiel
have moved into the new home
which they just recently compl-
eted in the northwest section of
the village of Zurich. They
have disposed of their variety
and snack shop to Mr. and Mrs.
Leeland Willett.
A mother wolf with three
small pups are believed to be at
large in the big swamp just
several miles east of Zurich,
Miss Phyllis Dougal, who is
teaching school at Sault Ste.
Marie, enjoyed the holiday
season at the home of her par-
ents in the village of Hensall.
A pretty double ring wedding
was solemnized at the Hensall
United Church manse, when
Anita Hildebrandt was united
in marriage to Robert H, Cook,
of Hensall.
Mrs. P. Kraft, of Dashwood,
had the misfortune to slip and
fall on her kitchen floor, caus-
ing a fractured hip.
10 Years Ago
Decision to consider sites out-
side of Zurich for a new Hay
Township Central School was
made yesterday, January 15, in
the township office at Zurich.
The new organization of Luth-
eran Church Women held their
meeting on Tuesday evening,
with am attendance of 40 memb-
ers and visitors. Rev. Fischer
showed a film strip of Pastor
Paul, of Rajahumndry, in India,
this country chosen as the theme
of the year.
J.G. Burrows, of Exeter,
Public School Inspector for
South Huron was guest speaker
at Hensall Women's Institute
Citizenship and Education
meeting held on Wednesday
evening, speaking on "a year of
progress."
Mr. and Mrs. William Smith ,
Fred Broadley and Jim Taylor
left Monday of this week by jet
to attend the National Mobile
Home Show at Louisville,
Kentucky, which last for a
week. Mr. and Mrs. Smith exp-
ect to spend the week -end in
Florida.

Firemen at Grand Bend were
called to a farm home owned
by Melvin Desjardine at Port
Blake, two miles north of the
village, on Monday morning.
The alarm was occasioned when
the residence became filled with
smoke.
