LADIES AID
The January meeting of Zion
Lutheran Ladies Aid was held
Wednesday, January 9, with
group two and Mrs. Arnold
Becher, convener in charge of
devotions and lunch.
Pastor Morgret was in charge
of the program. He passed out
papers for a questionaire-• -
What is the Problem? The ladies
were divided into groups and
their findings brought back for
discussion.
Mrs. Jim Hayter, president,
dealt with the business. Twenty-
eight shut-in boxes were distrib-
uted at Christmas. The Altar
Guild is Mrs. Hilda Haugh and
Mrs. Laura Datars. One new
member joined. Mrs. Albert
Miller gave the report of the
nominating committee and Mrs.
Arnold Becker was elected pres-
idem and Mrs. Lorne Genttner
vice-president; auditors are
Mrs. John Rader and Mrs. Irvin
Rader. The other officers were

NORMAN M. TURNBULL
A resident of Grand Bend for
some years since retiring from
Hay Township, Norman M.
Turnbull passed away at South
Huron Hospital, Exeter, on
Friday, January 11, in his 86th
year.
His wife, the former Adeline
Sharrow, pre -deceased him in
1972.
Surviving is one son, Rufus,
Grand Bend; one grand -daughter,
Mrs. Glen (Donna) Thiel, R.R.
2. Zurich; and one sister, Mrs.
Eugenea Allen, of Parkhill.
The body rested at the T.
Harry Hoffman Funeral Home,
Dashwood, where the funeral
service took place on Monday,
January 14, at 2 p.m. Inter -
mem was in the Grand Bend
Cemetery, Rev. E. Wattam
officiated.

BROWNIE PACK
On Wednesday, January 9,
Brown Owl, Mrs. LeRoy Gowan -
lock re -opened Brownies follow-
ing a two week Christmas vac-
ation. Prior to Christmas the
girls and their leaders, Mrs.
Gowanlock and Tawny Owl,
Mrs, Jack Gaiser, held a party
with an exchange of gifts,
games, and lunch. All girls
in the Dashwood area seven
years and over, not presently
part of the Brownie program are
invited to come to the Dashwooc
Community Centre any Wednes-
day at 4.30 and participate in
Brownie activities. At present
there are 21 Brownies and seven
Guides.

The January meeting of
Dashwood Women's Institute
was held January 8, with the
Education and Cultural Activit-
ies group in charge and Mrs.
LeRoy Gowanlock, convener, in
charge. Roll call was "Where
would you turn for help if you
had an emotionally disturbed
child? Mrs. Gowanlock gave a
reading entitled "Children learn
what they live."
Guest speaker was Mr. Christ-
opher Martin, Director of Child
Care, Salvation Army Children'E
Village, London. His address
was very helpful to those present
explaining the many aspects of
caring for and treating emot-
ionally disturbed children.
Mrs. Gowanlock then read a
New Year's wish and display of
children's crafts was presented
for viewing. Lunch was served
by Mrs. Martha Weigand, Mrs.
Greta Schade and Mrs. Janis
Martin.
Mrs. Gordon Bender, presid-
ent, dealt with the business.
Four euchres will be held, the
first January 22 and second,
January 29. A delegate is to
attend the Officers' Conference
in May.

Adults of the dual parish of
Peace, Exeter, and Zion Luth-
eran Church, Dashwood have the
opportunity to increase their
knowledge of the Bible during
the next nine weeks, beginning
the week of January 21.
Fundamentals of Christian
Beliefs will be taught at Peace
Lutheran Church, Exeter,
beginning Thursday, January 24,
at 7:30 p. m. This course surveys

the basic doctrines of the Christ-
ian faith and their Biblical
basis as taught, believed, and
confessed in the Lutheran church
Zion offers a course in New
Testament history beginning
Monday, January 21, at 7:30
p, m. Rev. Frank Morgret will
be the instructor. The course
will include the history of the
New Testament times, back-
ground of the books of the New
Testament and major teachings
of the New Testament.
Three adults from Peace Luth-
eran church, Exeter, received
certificates of achievement frorr
Rev. Morgret during the morn-
ing service, January 13. The
students successfully completing
the course were Mr. and Mrs.
John Forrest and Mrs. Charles
Dittmer.
Students successfully complet-
ing the course of instruction in
Fundamental Christian beliefs
were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Keller,
Mr. and Mrs. David Rader,
and Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Reste-
mayer. Mrs. David Rader was
also received as a communicant
member by affirmation of faith.
The ratepayers meeting of
Dashwood will be held Tuesday,
January 29, at 8:00 p.m. at
the Community Centre.
Dashwood dogs must be tied
at all times. Any dog running at
large will be picked up by the
dog catcher.
