Sandra Dale, Debbie Daun, Marie Flynn and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dale Assisted with Monday's activities along with the regulars Mary Taylor, Nor- man Speir and Jerry Collins. A group of young people from the Blyth Christian Reform Church visited the Home on New Years Day singing carols and songs in several areas. Eight tables of euchre and three of crokinole took part in Wednesdays games with volunt- eers from the Vanastra club. The residents were entertain- ed on "Family Night" with a return visit from the Bradley Family. The Bradleys came to Clinton from Ireland one year ago and are becoming famous for their fine musical talent. The seven members of the fam- ily sang as a group and include Eugene, Damain, John, Jacqu- iline, Ansberth with Winifred and Marie singing two duets. Mr. Doherty of Clinton who is Mrs. Bradley's brother was M.C, for the evening besides singing several vocal solos. Mr. Brad- ley accompanies his family with the accordian. Mrs. Ley- bourne, who was born in Ireland, thanked the entertainers on be- half of the residents. We have started 1974 with an optimistic note and are organ- izing an over 90 club with the hope that some organization in the County will see their way clear to sponser it. 0 WORK -AT-HOME SCHEMES Consumers' Association of Canada warns consumers to beware of work -at-home schemes. VILLAGE OF ZURICH Use of Sanitary Sewers The following sections of By-law No 8-73 re: The Use of Public and Private sewers, are published for the inform- ation of users of the sewage system. Sec 1 (f) SANITARY SEWER, shall mean a sewer which carries sewage and to which storm, surface and ground waters are not admitted, Sec 5 (j) All excavations required for the installation of a building sewer shall be by open trench unless otherwise approved by the Inspector. All pipe shall be installed according to Village specifications and no backfill shall be placed until the work has been inspected by the Inspector or his authorized representative. All connection and joints shall be gas tight and water tight, all joints in vitrified clay pipe or between such pipe and metals shall be made with approved joining materials. No other joining mater- ials shall be used without the written approval of the Insp- ector. Sec 7 (a) No person shall discharge or cause to be discharg- ed, or permit illegal entry of storm water, surface water, ground water, roof runoff, subsurface drainage, cooling water or unpolluted industrial process waters to any sanit- ary sewer. Sec 7 (c) Grease,. oil and sand interceptors shall be provid- ed when in the opinion of the Inspector, they are necessary, for the proper handling of liquid wastes containing grease in excessive amounts, or any inflammable wastes, sand and the other harmful ingredients, except that such interceptors shall not be required for private quarters or dwelling units. All interceptors shall be of a type and capacity approved by the Inspector, and shall be located as to be readily and accessible for cleaning and inspection. Before entering any public sewer system the waste pipe from a kitchen sink of every hotel, eating house, restaurant or other similar establishment, shall be connected to a grease interceptor of proper design with flow control and so placed as to be easily accessible to open and clean. Grease and oil interceptors shall be constructed of imper- vious materials capable of withstanding abrupt and extreme changes in temperature. They shall be of substantial con- struction, water tight and equipped with easily removable covers which, when belted in place shall be gas tight and water tight. Where installed, all grease, oil and sand interceptors shall be maintained by the owner, at his expense in cont- inuously efficient operation at all times. Sec 8 (c) Any person found guilty of an offence under the provisions of this By-law shall, at the discretion of the presiding Magistrate, be guilty of an offence and subject to a penalty of an amount not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each offence, exclusive of costs, to be recoverable under the provisions of the Summary Conv- ictions Act.
