Init IV of Hensall United
Church met on Thursday after-
noon at the Church for the open-
ing meeting of the new year,
with Mrs. J. McAllister presid-
ing and Mrs. J. Horton acting
as hostess. Mrs. McAllister
opened the meeting with a
thought on thankfulness follow-
ed by the Lord's Prayer. M.
E. Pym gave a very inspiring
devotion using the theme
"Faith, " and reading scripture
from Hebrews. Mrs. L. Mickle
favoured everyone with two
lovely piano solos. The study
on different articles from the
Observer was given by Mrs.
McAllister. It was reported
that there had been 44 visits
made to the sick and shut-in
recently.
CHRISTMAS DRAWS
Mrs. Arthur Traquair of Wood.
stock was the lucky winner of a
Stereo at the Christmas draw
for the Hensall Canadian Legion
held recently.
Mrs. Doug Cooper, Kippen
was the first prize winner of a
money doll, and Beth Munn of
R. R.1, Exeter won second prize
of $10 in the Legion Ladies Aux-
iliary Christmas draw
UNITED CHURCH NOTES
Rev. Donald Beck preached
on the sermon topic "What did
you get from Christmas?", at
the Sunday service in Hensall
United Church. Installation
of officers for the UCW was
held. The choir sang the anthem
"Jesus Carne, the Heavens Ador-
ing, " from the new hymn book
accompanied by Mrs. Turkheim
on the organ. The flowers in
the church were in memory of
the late James Drummond.
Mrs. Stewart Bell returned
home after a pleasant holiday
vacationing with her brother
and sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Henderson, Cheektowaga
Mr. and Mrs. Rick Bisset,
of Goderich, Miss Diane Bisset,
of Leamington, spent Christmas
at the Bellerina Farm.
AMBER REBEKAHS
The first meeting of the new
year of Amber Rebekah Lodge
was held Wednesday evening in
the Lodge rooms with N.G.
Mrs. Aideen Volland presiding
and V . G. Mrs. Margaret Consitt
assisting. Quite a number of
officers were absent due to the
weather and road conditions.
Mrs. Volland reported for the
C.P.T. committee that plants
had been delivered to the sick
and shut-ins at Queensway
Nursing Horne, Blue Water Rest
Horne, Huronview and South
1-luron Hospital, and a number of
local residents. Many thank you
notes were received. A discuss-
ion took place concerning the
birthday party to be held on
February 11. Secret Pal night
will be held January 16. It is
hoped that all members will
plan to attend this meeting.
An exchange of gifts will take
place and the identity of the
Secret Pal will be revealed.
A program is being prepared
for the evenings entertainment.
A good report was given on the
C.P.T. euchre held in Dec-
ember. Response to this euchre
which was in aid of the Christ-
mas flower fund was most grat-
ifying with eight tables in play. -

garbage and garbage that may
be burned. Since the garbage
must be burned once a week it
was decided to ask Postill if he
could do it and if he cannot,
someon else willhave to be
contacted.
The clerk was instructed to
notify the ministry that council
has taken action, and Mr.
Davis will erect signs. Rodent
control has begun and the garb-
age will be covered on Tuesday
morhing of each week.
Council was told that the
municipality does not qualify
for the arena grant as R. Van -
stone does not have the necessary
certificate.
It was decided that members
of the Parks Board would meet
in the Town of Exeter with
regard to community recreat-
ion.
H, Schoonbeek, who made
application to operate a taxi
service in Hensall, will be ask-
ed to attend the next council
meeting on February 6.
Four members of council will

attend the meeting of the Ass-
' o::iatinn of Rural municipalit-
ies on February 3, 4, and 5, in
Hamilton.
Council decided to endorse
a resolution from Grand Bend
that if the Reeve of a municip-
ality is i11 or incapable of att-
ending county council, a sub-
stitute may be sent to represent
the municipality.
A special meeting will be
held to deal with questions about
the proposed sanitary sewage
system and how Hensall proposes
to finance it.
A list of the 66 year olds and
over will be compiled and sent
to Huronview upon request.
Bylaws appointing Monteith
and Monteith as auditors for the
year 1974; declaring the reeve
and clerk asthe signing officials,
and ordering six copies of the
municipal World, were passed.
Also a by-law to appoint Earle
Shapter as clerk -treasurer and
tax collector at a salary of
$6500 per year; was passed.
Hensall Hotel will contact
the Department of Highways
before renovations can be made.
