Motorists are reminded as
the fall weather is with us
atmospheric changes are quite
frequent and fog or mist become
more prevalent. It is a good
idea to turn on your headlights
so oncoming motorists can see
you, and it is also required
by the Highway Traffic Act wlier
visibility is 500 feet or less,

Emmanuel UCUV entertain groups
from Kippen, Goshen and Zurich
Mrs. Laird Jacobe was chair -
lady for the Thanksgiving meet-
ing of Emmanuel United Church
Women, when guests from
Kippen,. Goshen, and the Zurich
Lutheran Societies were entert-
ained.
The church sanctuary was
colourful with autumn fruits,
vegetables and flowers. The
hymns sung were, Come ye
Thankful People, and We plough
the Fields.
The scripture was a Litany of
seed time and harvest. Mrs.
Tom Meyers offered prayer.
Mrs. Beatrice Rader and Mrs.
Ken Breakey sang two lovely
duets. A poem was read by Mrs.
George Bullock.
The group were grateful to
Tony Kyle, of Hensall, who
described his most exciting
trip to the United Nations,
which he won as a result of his
public speaking.
A dialogue depicting Woman's
place in the church 100 years
ago was presented by Mrs. Elroy
Desjardine and Mrs. Newell
Geiger, who were dressed in
suitable attire. At the conclus-
ion these ladies were ushers for
the offering which was received
in a unique manner, since the
collection boxes on long handles
were ones used in the former
Blake Presbyterian church. It
was dedicated by Mrs. Jacobe.
Everyone prayed the Lord's
Prayer to close the meeting,
after which rhe president, Miss
Ethel Gabel, invited everyone
to the basement for a social time
of fellowship.
