50 Years Ago
The firm of Stade and Weida
in Zurich have purchased a new
Ford speed truck to use in con-
nection with their hardware
store.
Mrs. Eickmeier, of Dublin,
is spending some time at the
home of her son, Henry, who
is the band leader for the dist-
ria.
Mr. R.F. Stade is having an
electric hydro range installed
in his home at Zurich. This is
the first type of appliance of
this sort to be installed in this
area, and all the people are
anxiously awaiting the results.
The materials have arrived
for the proposed cabling of tele-
phone wires in the south end of
the village of Zurich.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Wooley,
who have been residents of
Hensall for a number of years,
have now left for Stratford,
where they intend to make their
home in the future.
Mr. and Mrs. William Sang-
ster and little son left Hensall
this week for Scotland, their
native land, where they plan to
visit old friends and relatives
for the summer months.

Mr. Milne Rader sold a build-
ing lot on the west side of his
property in Zurich to Mr. E. E.
Wuerth, who intends building
a house thereon in the near fut-
ure.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Ginger-
ich, a newly-wed couple,
have purchased the house across
from the Lutheran Church in
Zurich from Mr. L. Warnock,
and plan to move into the same
very shortly,
Many of the scholars from
the Blake School, along with
their teacher, Miss Audrey
Heimrich, attended the annual
music festival at Goderich,
where they took part in the
program,
Mr. and Mrs. Jules Corriveau
of Detroit, formerly of the
Bluewater Highway, spent the
past few days on the old high-
way, renewing acquaintances
and visiting with members of
their family,

Peter Moir has purchased from
Walter Fee the property in the
east side of the village of Hen -
sail,
Mrs. Ed Fink of Hanover, was
a recent visitor with her husband
who has accepted a position with
Drysdale Hardware as a plumber
and tinsmith. The Finks plan
on moving into Hensall in the
very near future.
Great catches of perch fish
are being made off the Fier at
Grand Bend, with an ordinary
hook and line.
The heavy rains of last week
followed by the warm weather
this week has been a great help
to growth of hay and other
crops.
A number of new sidewalks
are being built in the village
of Zurich this year, replacing
old ones that have become
badly broken up.
The Most Rev. J.T. Kidd,
D. D, , bishop of London, conf-
erred the Sacrament of Confir-
mation on a class of 18 in St.
Boniface Church, Zurich, on
• Monday evening. A large att-
endance was present for rhe im-
pressive ceremony.

One of the old familiar land-
marks along the Bluewater
Highway, the store formerly
owned by Gascho Bros., of
Zurich, is being dismantled.
The building was sold some
time ago to the Department of
Highways, so the road could
be widened at this point and
avoid a dangerous corner.
Ontario Department of Educ-
ation has announced that J.G.
Burrows of Toronto will succeed
G.J. Goman as public school
inspector in Huron.
Fire Thursday destroyed the
barn of Hugh Boyle, Dashwood
and threatened his house before
the Dashwood volunteer fire
brigade brought it under control.
W.H.G. Strang, R,R.1, Hen-
sall, was a member of the grad-
uating class of the Associate
Course at the Ontario Agricult-
ural College, Guelph.

Rev. Frank Morgret, pastor
of Zion Lutheran church, here,
and Peace Lutheran Church,
Exeter, was awarded the degree
of Master of Divinity in absentia
at graduatinn exercises held
May 24 at Concordia Theolog-
ical Seminary, Springfield,
Illinois.
Much of Rev. Morgret's work
toward this degree was complet-
ed at the Brandon Mental Health
Centre, Brandon, Manitoba.
There he completed a course in
Supervised Pastoral Education
under the instruction of the Rev.
C. Anderson, Mental Health
Centre Chaplain.
Previously, Rev. Morgret
earned the Bachelor of Science
degree from the United States
Coast Guard Academy, New
London, Connecticut and the
Bachelor of Divinity degree from
Concordia Seminary, Spring-
field. He is the son of Dr, Frank
Morgret, Memphis, Tennessec,
and the late Mrs. Morgret.
Miss Susan Whittier, Missis-
sauga, has been holidaying with
her grandmother, Mrs. Hilda
Wein.
Mr. and Mrs, Ross Love were
Sunday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs, Lloyd Love, Parkhill,
other visitors were Mr. and Mrs.
Don Ireland, Teeswater; Mr.
and Mrs. Everett Sparling, God-
erich; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ferg-
uson and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ferg-
uson, Gorrie,
Mrs. Frieda Keller has return-
ed home from South Huron
Hospital, Exeter.
