Don Webster, Exeter, acc-
ompanied by his wife, Donna
was one of the 43 blind deleg-
ates who attended a four-day
conference in Kingston for the
Ontario Division of the Canad-
ian Council of the Bline.
The conference ran from Islay
13 to 16, during which time a
series of 15 resolutions were dis-
cussed and passed.
There resolutions concerned
legislative recommendations,
recreational suggestions and
general guidelines for making
blind people more independent
and useful in their individual
life styles.
The Canadian Council of the
Blind, Ontario Division, con-
sists of 31 clubs with a total
membership of 9, 000 blind
people. The C.C.B. is the
voice of Canada's 28, 000 blind.
It represents the interests of
the blind themselves and handles
the social and recreational act-
ivities of its parent organization,
the Canadian National Institute
for the Bline (C.N,I.B.) the
service agency responsible for
fund-raising, research, treat-
ment and community services.

The spring Figure Skating
School finished last weekend at
Ilderton, where Mary Jane Sandi
Lands and Lynda Shipley, both
of Grand Bend, and Julie Mock
and Aileen Klungel, both of
Hensall, were successful in pass-
ing their tests.
These girls are all members
of the Zurich -Grand Bend CFSA
Club, and Miss Troyann Bell of
London, Skating Club partnered
Lynda and Julie for their dances.
Miss Pauline Bell is the prof-
essional.

4-1-1 CLUB
The Witty Knitty, Kippen 1,
4-1-1 Club completed their
eight meetings and will attend
Achievement Day in Zurich
on Saturday, May 20. Leaders
of this club were Mrs. Jack Bell
and Mrs, Robert Bell.
W.I. MEETING
Kippen East Women's Instit-
ute met at the Legion Hall for
the Family and Consumers Af-
fairs meeting. The three 4-H
clubs presented a fashion show
and gave the cost of each gar-
ment. Lynn Alderdice and Mau-
reen Connolly, who will ach-
ieve Provincial Honours were
presented with a gift by Mrs. J.
Drummond. The leaders - Tove
Bell, Marlene Bell, Lavina
Brodie, Gertie Postma, Gladys
McGregor and Margaret Consitt
were also presented with a gift.
Mrs. Rachel Schwalm of Hen-
sall told of her trip to Hawaii.
On display were many souvenirs
from Hawaii. Mrs. Al Hoggarth
and Mrs. Vern Alderdice model-
led the grass skirts along with
the accessories.
The roll call "How I relieve
tension" was answered by taking
a walk, reading, sleeping,
visiting friends, ski-dooing,
getting the problem off your
chest. Poems were read by Mrs.
M Connolly and Mrs. Al Hog-
garth, Mrs. Glen Bell gave the
Agricultur and Canadian indust-
ries report and Mrs, J. Drumm-
ond for Citizenship and World
Affairs. Mrs. R. Bell gave the
District Annual Report. Mrs.
Al Hoggarth chaired the prog-
ram. Mrs. R. Bell and Mrs. J.
Drummond presented a skit,
"TakaTime." Mrs. Vern Alder -
dice and her committee served
dessert before the meeting begar

Mrs. Keith Love gave an in-
spiring devotional at the regul-
ar meeting of Kippen United
Church Women. The topic was
conducted by Mrs. Alex Mc-
Murtrie when tapes of life in
India compiled by Mrs. Mal-
colm Davidson were played.
Robin McLellan gave musical
numbers. Reports from the Sun-
shine committee by Mrs. N.
Dickert, rose committee by
Mrs. Laird Finlayson, visiting
Gy. Sgt. Gary Merritt and
family have returned to their
home in Oceanside California.
They have been visiting the
past three weeks with Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Payne and other rel-
atives in the district.
Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Vlas-
blom and family, Toronto, and
Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Brander -
horst, Nanticoke, visited over
the holiday weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Sim Roobal.
Mr. Wally Lind of Sydney
Australia visited last Thursday
with Bill Gibson. Mr. Lind is
presently travelling around the
world on a world tour.
Mrs. Laird Mickle visited over
the weekend with her daughter
and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs.
Ross McMillan and family,
Waterloo, and also visited Mon-
day with Rev. and Mrs. Harold
Currie, at Sebringville.
er. Mrs. Owen Whilsmith of
Exeter, was in charge of devot-
ions with Mrs. Windower giving
a special Mother's Day reading.
The United Church Women
of Brussels visited the home on
Monday afternoon. This annual
visit in May by the UCW is
looked forward to by the resid-
ents and this year was no except-
ion. The program included voc-
al numbers by the quartet. Neba
Scott, Ruth Hupfer, Sarah Steph-
enson and Barb McCutcheon
with Mary Bryans as pianist for
the afternoon. Selections by the
rythm band and square dancing
by a group of the ladies rounded
out the program which was int-
roduced by Rev. E.L. Drew.
Treats were given to each mem-
ber of the Home by the ladies
and the appreciation of resid-
ents was extended by Miss Flor-
ence McNaughton.
Marie Flynn, Mary Taylor,
Norman Speir and Jerry Collins
provided the music for the
Family Night program. This
activity which is normally
held on Monday was changed
for this week as we have bad
visiting groups on the Monday
afternoons in May. Two new
residents, Miss Margaret Kehn
of Dashwood and Miss Mary Van
Camp of Exeter, were welcom-
ed to the home. The program
included dance numbers by
Debbie Flynn, vocal and instru-
mentals by Sandra and Ken Dale
and Earl Flynn.

passed her Grade V piano. She
is a pupil of Miss Greta Lammie,
Hensall.

Bell gave a Mother's Day poem
and conducted the business.
Arrangements were made for
the Strawberry Supper on June
13 from 5 to '7; for a bale of
clean used clothing to be sent
to the Rescue Mission and pack-
ed May 26, for the Queensway
Bazaar and tea May 30; and
for a change in date of the
next meeting which will be
held at the home of Mrs.
Emmerson Kyle on June 5.
Courtesy remarks were given by
Mrs. Edison McLean, Meeting
closed with the Mizpah Bene-
diction. Unit III served lunch.
