News of Dashwood
WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
It was the annual grandmoth-
ers meeting of Dashwood Wom-
en's Institute Tuesday, May

many guests, The Family and
Consumer Affairs group was in
charge with Mrs. Stuart Wolfe
convenor. The 4-H girls were
also guests modelling the outfits
they had made. Club No. 1
presented a fashion show and
Club No I1 a skit based on Let's
make a deal. Sue Ann Schroed-
er received a cup and saucer
for getting County Honors and
Debbie Riddell and Olga Zemiti:
trays for Provincial Donors.
The leaders also received gifts
for their work with the girls.
The president, Mrs. Gordon
Bender was in charge of this
part of the program. The plan-
ned programs for the coining
year were presented by conven-
ors. The roll call brought
chuckles as members and guests
answered, "A grandmother's
custom that we do not follow
anymore." Susan Grigg and
Patricia Bender played accord-
ian selections.
Mrs. Hilda Rader discussed
the motto --laugh more and
worry less. Cathy Becker gave
a reading. Mrs. Wolfe introduc-
ed the guest speaker, Mrs.
George Anderson, of Exeter,
a member of Dashwood W.I.
eighteen years ago. She delight-
ed the audience with a reading,
"I want to go with Daddy."
She spoke on their visit to Engl-
and and Ireland while her husb-
and showed pictures. She was
thanked by Mrs. V.L. Becker.
During the lunch hour several
prizes were awarded to the
grandmothers, namely, grand-
mother with the most grand-
children, Mrs. William Beierl-
ing; oldest grandmother present,
Mrs. Henry Eagleson; grand-
mother with the youngest grand-
child, Mrs. Stuart Wolfe; lucky
chair, Cynthia Willert (4-H
girl); grandmother with birth-
day closest, Mrs. Martha Miller,
Mr. and Mrs. Eric Eagleson
have moved to Little Current,
Manitoulin Island, where they
have purchased a funeral home.
Also moving with them was
"Missie" the dachshund. Bill

at Huronview
The Huronia Male Chorus led
by Mrs. Caffrey, with piano
accompaniment by Mrs. Klein-
stiver, provided the Family
Night program. The Chorus witt
members from Exeter, Hensall,
Zurich, Grand Bend and Dash-
wood areas presented part of the
program. They are preparing foi
the Exeter Centennial in July.

ed the appreciation of the res-

Weber and triend, Ginger Love,
and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Russel
assisted in the moving and spent
the weekend there.
Mrs. Lovina Miller, Zurich,
is spending some time with Mr.
and Mrs. Reinhold Miller.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love
accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Clar
ence Hardy, Lucan, to Caledon,
Saturday, where they attended
the wedding of a niece, Ilona
Kayes to Daniel O'Callaghan,
at St. Cornelius church and the
reception at Chinguaconsy
Country Club.
Four adults became members
of Zion Lutheran Church, Sun-
day. They were Mr. and Mrs.
Al Scholl, James Rolph, and
Mrs. Ernest Miller.
LWML SPRING RALLY
The Lutheran Women's Miss-
ionary League Spring Rally was
held Monday, May 7 at St.
Matthew's Lutheran Church,
Stratford. Twenty-eight ladies
from Zion Lutheran and Peace
Lutheran churches went by bus.
L.L. Deveber, M.D., S.R.,
C.P., London, was the guest
speaker, with pictures and
words he discussed "The Right
of Life" followed by a question
and answer period.
Election of officers took
place.with Mrs. Delmar Miller
elected vice-president of the
Mitchell Zone and Mrs. Albert
Miller, project chairman.
Mrs. Paul Watson and Mrs.
David Rader were hostesses for
a shower for Janet Miller, bride -
elect of June at Mrs. Watson's
home, Friday, May 4. Games
were played following which
