Nu— ALL AJOUT BAYFIEL INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE The Euchre Club winter season closed with a banquet served by the Ladies of the United Church in their base- ment. A delicious turkey dinner was enjoyed by 33 members. We regret a few were unable to be there. Cards were played and prizes were awarded to Mrs. Susan Pollock, Mrs. Mabel McClin- chey, Mr. John Lindsay, Mr. Brian Lampriere. Lone hand prize was won by John Lindsay. A short business meeting was held and George Clark asked to be relieved of his duties as Pres- ident and treasurer. Harry Baker was appointed to fill these of- fices for the 1973-74 season. There was a good attendance at the Bayfield St. Andrews United Church Sunrise Service, held Sunday morning at 6 a.m. overlooking the beautiful valley behind the Manse. Don and Phyllis Campbell took charge of the service. Later all assembled at the Church for a bacon and egg breakfast. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Scot- chmer, Robert and Lori, of Chatham were Easter weekend guests of his mother, Mrs. L, W. Scotchmer. Joining the family for Sunday dinner were Messers Gerald and Jay Fisher, of Clin- ton and Miss Karen Larson, of London. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pounder, John Cathy and Mary, of Lamb- eth, spent the weekend at their village home on Keith Crescent. Messers Bill, Gill and Miss Brons n north Mr. and Mrs, Walter Scott, of St. Thomas spent Easter with her sister Mr. and Mrs. Harold Penhale. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Penhale entertained a number of relative Sunday evening with a very del- icious turkey dinner. The guests were Mr, and Mrs. Walter Scott, of St. Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. H. Penhale, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bennett and daughters, Marlene and Joan of Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Smith visited Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Smith and family in Goderich on Sunday. Christy Latimer of Toronto, were Easter weekend guests of their grandmother, Mrs. Gilbert Knight. Mr. Joey and Miss Kim Quigg, London were visitors for a few days with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Earl. Sunday guests with the Earl's were Mrs. B.A. Quigg, Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Stevenson, Kathy, Doug, David, and Karen, all of London. Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Parker and Jennifer, London, were Thursday guests with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parker. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Scotch - mer, Molly and Jody, of St. Catherines and Mr. Mike Scot- chmer of Guelph, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. A,F. Scotchmer and Calvin.Mr. Mike Beatty of Montreal is visit- ing several days with the Scot- chmer family. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rowse and family, London, were with her mother, Mrs. L.B. Smith for Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Bill parker spent a couple of days recently in Mitchell and. Guelph. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Layton, Joanne and Sheryl of Brucefield, spent Easter Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Craig. Mr. and Mrs. Don Corriveau, Sheila and Bryan, Kitchener and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Desjardine and Paula, Goderich, were Easter weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. John Wild and family, R.R.3, Bayfield. Trade mission to United Kingdom Premier William Davis will lead a trade and investment mission of 15 top-level Ontario manufacturers and businessmen to the United Kingdom, May 13. The mission resulted from talk Mr. Davis had in Toronto earl- ier this year with Britain's Sec- retary of State for Trade and Industry, Peter Walker. At that time Mr, Walker offered the facilities of his department for such a delegation. The Premier said the aims of the mission are to explore the enhanced opportunities which exist for Canadian exporters in the British market as a result of Britain's entry into the Europ- ean Economic Community, and to promote British investment in Canada, particularly in Ontario. Mr. Davis said that he had decided to lead the mission "because of the British market's importance to the Canadian economy and the value I pers- onally attach to the mission." Industry and Tourism Minister Claude F. Bennett will accomp- any the Premier on the mission. From Huron County, E.C. Hill, chairman, Canadian Exp- orters Association and vice-pres- ident, Dominion Road Machin- ery Co. Ltd., of Goderich, will be accompanying the group. Mr. Hill is also chairman of the Huron County Board of Educ- ation.
