Several hundred members of the Evangelical Association of Western Ontario held a success- ful picnic at Springbank Park yesterday, coming from such places as Dashwood, Crediton, and Zurich. Last Friday night, the Zurich Junior Ball Club shut -out the Hensall Junior team, by a 5-0 score. O'Brien, the Zurich twirler, pitched a masterful game having to his credit a no -hit, no -run effort. Cantelon, the Hensall twirler was knocked out of the box and replaced by Nicol, but even this seemed to make little difference in the outcome of the game. Cook Bros., in Hensall, last week received a number of Fordson tractors for sale, and have already sold units to John Eckstein, of Zurich, and Peter McNaughton, east of Hensall. By all appearances there will be a large acreage of wheat sown this fall. 40 Years Ago The borne of Mr. and Mrs. Murdock Ross, Bayfield, was burned to the ground last Wed- nesday afternoon. The fire was caused by the explosion of a coal oil stove which took place shortly after one o'clock. Miss Catherine Merrier, who has taken a short course on Agriculture at Guelph, has ret- urned and is starting her years work as teacher of S. S. No. 12 Hay, at the 14th concession. Mr. Daniel Smith, who spent a few weeks with Zurich friends, left last week for New Hamburg, where he will visit with friends prior to returning to his home in Arkona. Miss Geiger left on Tuesday for Rye, Ontario, where she has accepted the position of teacher of the public schobi of that place.
