ur� THURSDAY, AUGUST 31, 1972 ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS MICHIGAN BEAN QUEEN, ZURICH BEAN QUEEN, MISS DOMINION OF CANADA, POSE WITH FESTIVAL CHAIRMAN GLEN THEIL Shoot movie film near Bayfield for CBC Sunday afternoon, August 20, a number of Bayfield residents had the honour of participating in the filming of a half-hour movie entitled "The Last Few Miles" which was written and directed by Mr. Kit Hood of Toronto. Mr. Hood was born in England and began his career with Walt Disney Studios as a film editor. Six years ago he decided to come to Canada as the film industry in England was be- coming very slow. He is pres- ently Editor of Rabko, a memb- er of the Canadian Film Editors in Toronto, and has edited several commercials for C.B.C. Mr. Hood was assisted in the production by Mr. Michael Koszycia of Toronto, formerly of Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Koszycia is a staff cameraman for Rabko and has done film editing for the past four years. Miss Kristen Ebsen, who plays the leading role, is studying to be an actress and is also a film editor's assistant with Post Productions of Toronto. The film, which is to have its premiere showing in Bayfield in December, was shot on the sixth concession of Goderich Township on Picot's Hill. Mr. Doug Allen in charge of location production, said that they were extremely pleased with the co- operation of all those who aided and participated in any way. Special mention goes out to Westlake's Ambul- ance Service, Zurich, the three ambulance attendants, Mr. Mozart Gelinas, Mr. Ken West- lake and Mr. Jim McWhinney, all of Zurich; Mr. Ron de Jong and the de Jong Farms; the Clinton Police Department for thl use of their fire truck and Mr. Les Elliott and Mr. Don Warner, Bayfield volunteer firemen; to Mr. Glen Price, owner of Clere- Vu Auto Wreckers for used car parts; to Mr. Ross Middleton, who produced the "rain" neces- sary for part of the filming, and to all the Bayfield and area residents who provided the nec- essary crowd gathered at the mock accident scene. Without all this voluntary aid and assist- ance, Mr. Alien said they could not have filmed "The Last Few Miles. 1/1111/111/111 OPENS AT 8:00 SHOWS START AT DUSK Bayfield council hears report (by Milvena Erickson) Bayfield village council met in the council chambers, Mon- day evening, with the reeve and all councillors present with the exception of Frank Mac - Fadden. Louis Ducharme approached council with a request that he be allowed to fill in an old abandoned well on town prop- erty on the south-west corner of main and Catherine Streets. Council granted the request that it be filled with sand and gravel under the supervision of the town foreman, John Lindsay. Council supported a resolution on a request from Erie Economic Council having reference to the continuation of the annual grant to the ten economic development councils that it should continue until such time as it is replaced by the proposed planning areas. A letter from the Assessment Review Court informed Counc- il it has changed its address to 713 David Srive, Newmarket, and will deal with any appeals that may arise for this area through this new location. Letter received from the Ontario Housing Corporation stated a representative will be contacting council regarding the Senior Citizens Housing proposal. Forms will also be sent to all Citizens over the age of 60 years in the near future. A discussion on the revision of the traffic by-law ensued. Robert Turner's request for permission to build a new drive- way into his new home being constructed on James Street was granted. In other business council dis- cussed life buoy and street light replacements , cleaning around the Cairn in Clan Gregor Square and the pruning of any trees where they obscure legal PAGE 15 signs.
