An alternative to warning
buzzers in autos has been dev-
eloped by a Litton Industries
engineer, He hooks a tape syst-
em to dashboard warning gauges
When he runs low on gasoline,
fails to fasten his seatbelt, or
turn on his headlights, his wife's
voice lets him know. Shouts
one tape: "Your engine is over-
heating. I see steam. Do
something!" Quoted by the
Ontario Safety League from the
Financial Post.
A new "one-upmanship" law
has been stated by traffic exp-
ert J. Stannard Baker. "Drivers
tend to explain their traffic
accidents by reporting circum-
stances of lowest culpability
compatible with credibility."
These illustrations of 'Baker's
Law' are given by the Ontario
Safety League: If a person was
drunk, he claims he fell asleep.
If he was asleep, he claims a
mechanical failure.
