Police Magistrate Reid, Crown Attorney Seager, and Constable Pellow, of Goderich, disposed of a few charges of intoxicants at the Town Hall, Zurich last Wednesday morning. The highest temperature re- corded for June this year was 95 degrees on June 24, with the lowest being 40 degrees on the 26th of June. One of the main attractions of the Evangelical Sunday School picnic last Thursday was the ball game between Charles Fritz's picked team from Zur- ich, and Jake Ortwein's stalwarts from the Bronson Line. The final score, after many disputes was 11-9 for the former team. An interesting horseshoe pit- ching contest is being looked for on Saturday evening, when the strong team from Staffa will come over and toss with the locals, and it will be very interesting. At Grand Bend, on Sunday last, three children, two girls and a boy, were swept off their feet by the undertow and were rescued from the waves by A , S , Thompson, of London, who was nearby and heard their calls for help. A number of joy riders motor- ed to Keiile Point on Sunday and enjoyed the scenery at this noted spot. The ferocious electrical and wind storm which passed over Hibbert Township last Sunday caused a great deal of heavy damage, as it tore trees out by the roots and knocked down practically all the standing grain crops. Mervyn Stephan has received the appointment of assistant station agent in Hensall, for the CNR. Pervy Harris, well-known Hensall area farmer, had the misfortune to fracture his col- larbone when the team he was hitching crowded him into the barn door. In addition to his regular farm work, he had been looking after 1200 turkeys. 15 Years Ago Mr. R. H. Middleton, who has been a druggist in Hensall for the past eighteen years announced that he has disposed of his business to Mr. Trevor Wilson, of London, a graduate druggist. On Saturday, Paul Yungblut, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Yungblut, while slicing meat in the Yungblut•butcher shop, had the misfortune to get his index finger in contact with the power slicer knife amput- ating some, near the first joint. Sunday was the day of the Kalbfleisch reunion, and about a hundred of the relatives gath- ered at Cedarbrook Park, Bron- son Line. A shower was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Haberer Jr., in honour of Marilyn Habere, a bride-to-be. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Sararas of Waterloo, spent the week- end with Mrs, Adeline Sararas, in Zurich, and also attended the funeral of their uncle, the late Harry Taylor, of Exeter. The annual Baby Band picnic was held at Goshen United Church, on Thursday, July 19, with about 80 sitting down to supper.
