spent Saturday when friends and
relatives gathered at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Jef-
frey to celebrate Mr. Jeffrey's
birthday.
Obituary
SAMUEL KEITH McBRIDE
A prominent young area farm-
er, Samuel Keith McBride pass-
ed away at his home on the
Goshen Line, Stanley Township,
on Saturday, December 18, in
his 41st year. He had lived in
this area all his life.
Born on September 5, 1931,
he is a son of Mr. and Mrs, Roy
McBride, R. R, 2, Zurich, He
married the former Elaine Geiger
on March 17, 1951.
Surviving besides his wife and
parents are two sons, Larry and
Terry, and two daughters, Darl-
ene and Lori, all at home; three
brothers, 1-lugh, Edmonton,
Alberta, Wesley, R, R,1, Varna,
and John, R. R,1, Zurich; one
sister, Mrs. Earl (Phylis) Deich-
ert, R. R,2, Zurich, and a grand-
mother, Mrs. Ethel McBride, of
Zurich.
The body rested at the West-
lake funeral home, Zurich,
where the service was held on
Monday, December 20, at 2 p.
m. Interment was made in the
Bayfield Cemetery. Rev. Mur-
dock Morrisson and Rev. Cyril
Gingerich officiated.
Pallbearers were Russell Man-
son, Harry Pennings, Leroy Erb,
Melvin Elliott, Howard Arm-
strong and Jack Eckel, Flower
bearers were Bruce, Murray, Ray
and Garnet McBride, John Deich.

Zurich native
dies suddenly
A native of this area, Rev.
Albert Datars passed away sud-
denly in Preston on Monday,
December 20, in his 68th year.
He was born in Ilay Township
on November 18, 1904, a son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward
Datars.
An ordained minister with the
Lutheran Church, Rev. Datars
has served congregations at
Sullivan Township, Tavistock,
Kitchener, Fort Erie and Bramp-
ton, prior to his retirement.
Ile has been living in Preston
since retiring,
Rev. Datars received his early
education at schools in this area,
and then graduated from Water-
loo College and Waterloo Luth-
eran Seminary. Just a couple of
weeks ago, he was the guest
speaker at the 110th anniversary
of St. Peter's Lutheran Church,
in Zurich.
Surviving besides his wife, the
former Leona Fries, are two
sons, Ross, of Ancaster, and
Robert, of Ottawa; one brother,
Edward, of Zurich; and two
sisters, Miss Anna Datars, of
Zurich, and Mrs, Victoria Ded-
eis, of Toronto.
The body is resting at the
Sandercock funeral home, Kit-
chener, until Thursday, when
the funeral service will be held
at St. Peter's Lutheran Church,
Preston, at 2 p.m.

MORRISON - HEMINGSEN
Miss Diane Hemmingsen,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans
Hemmingsen, of Warren, was
married recently to John M.
Morrison Jr., son of Mr, and
Mrs, John Morrison, of Madison
Heights, Michigan.
The Morrisons are summer
residents of St. Joseph,
Warren Municipal Judge Rob-
ert J. Chrzanowski performed
the ceremony in his chambers
amidst a small gathering of
family and friends.
The bride was attired in a
white blouse with large billow-
ous sleeves, complimented by
I a floor -length skirt with a multi-
colored calico quilt design. She
carried a single long-stemmed
red rose with velvet ribbon
streamers.
The groom wore a brown and
gold plaid suit with a yellow
carnation in the lapel.
The bride's sister, Marilyn
Linden, and her husband, David,
served as matron of honor and
best man. She carried a long-
stemmed pink carnation.
A reception was held in the
Hemmingsen home where more
family members gathered to
honor the couple.
Guests were treated to cold
duck and appetizers and later to
champagne and a buffet dinner.
A four -tiered wedding cake
made by the groom's aunt, Mrs.
Howard Hatfield, was decorated
with yellow roses.
The newlyweds opened gifts
before onlookers who flashed
pictures and threw streamers.
After a brief honeymoon, the
couple moved into their apart-
ment in Sterling Heights, Mich-
igan.
Mrs. Morrison, an alumna of
Lincoln High School, attended
Macomb Community College.
She is employed as a reception-
ist by Drs. Ratner and Brent in
Detroit.
A Vietnam veteran, the bride-
groom was graduated from Mad-
ison High School and has attend-
ed Macomb Community College.
He completed training last
month in the Oakland Michigan
University police academy and
is now a patrolman on the Sterl-
ing Heights Police force.
