anniversary at Zurich
Father Stephen Eckert Coun-
cil, Knights of Columbus of
Seaforth and district marked'
their 9th annual charter night in
the Zurich Community Centre.
The affair included a banquet
with 136 members, friends and
guests in attendance and was
followed by a dance.
Grand Knight, Leo Ilagan,
was chairman and following
Grace, a toast to the Queen was
proposed by him before the
assembly sat down to a roast
beef supper, catered to by the
Catholic Women's League of St.
Boniface Church, Zurich.
Following the banquet, Grand
Knight, Leo Hagan, extended
greeting to all present and then
introduced the head table as
follows: Joseph Tobin, District
Deputy of District 31 and Mrs.
Tobin, Stratford; Edward Murray,
Grand Knight and Mrs. Dever-
eaux; John Paul Rau, Chancellor,
and Mrs. Rau; Phil Durand,
Warden and Mrs. Durand; John
J. Flanagan, Financial Secretary
and Mrs, Flanagan; Leon Bannon,
Treasurer; John \iahoney, Rec-
order, and Mrs. Mahoney; Joe
Regier, Trustee and Mrs. Regier;
Clayton Looby, Inmtediate Past
Grand Knight, and Mrs. Looby;
William E. Ilallahan, :Advocate,
and Mrs. l lallahan; Charles Rau,
Past Grand Knight, and Mrs.

Future of area discussed

allow adequate facilities for a
marina.
"Could making the Zurich -
St. Joseph area a centre of
attraction mean an increase
in tourist business to the area, "

Professor 1-Iart concluded by
asking the Chamber of Com-
merce to appoint a three -than
committee to work with him in
an effort to investigate all the
possible angles which could be
used for such a project. He off-
ered his services as well as
those of numerous students at
the University, whom he said
he knew would be willing to
help dig up information required
A committee consisting of
herb Turl<lteim, Jaines Nogg
and Gerald Gingerich, were
named to work with Professor
Hart along these lines.
In the business session of the
meeting, two new members,
Jack llamilton and Cordon
Lavery, were approved to the
organization.
Plans were finalized for the
tour of Dashwood Industries
Limited on December 1.

at South Huron District High School.

greetings from the State Board
and Kilroy Council respectively.
Immediate Past Grand Knight,
Clayton Looby, .thanked the
ladies and the Grand Knight
closed the banquet by announc-
ing that on May 6, 1972, the
Father Stephen Eckert Council
will mark the lOth anniversary
of its founding and that plans
are already underway to niarl<
the occasion. lie also pointed
out to the members that since
election day falls on the gen-
eral meeting night of the
Council, the meeting has been
moved to Wednesday night,
October 20,
During the dance period prizes
in a draw were awarded to
Frank Kistner and Kenneth Whet -
ham, both of Dublin. Roger
Quick and his orchestra supplied
the music.
Dairy Maids

Meetings four and five of the
Dairy Maids were held at Mrs.
Schwaxtzentruber's home. At
meeting four, we discussed
daily menus with and without
dairy products. Mrs. Schwartz-
entruber demonstrated how to
make Salmon Dip and Chocol-
ate Fudge,
Our home assignment is to
check lists of ingredients on
canned and packaged foods,
used in your home..
At meeting five, Mrs. Oesch
carne and talked to us about
cheese, how it was first disc-
overed and how it is made now.
This was really fantastic be-
cause it was all new to us.
After this, we had cheese
crisps and cheese drop biscuits.
We also had a taste of some of
the samples that Mrs. Oesch
left for us to try.
Our home assigtunent was to
prepare a meal using one of
the main dishes in our record
book.
