On September 8, cars driven
by Oege Koopman and Lorraine
Heywood, both from Exeter,
collided on Highway No. 4,
south of Mensal/. Constable
Don Mason estimated damage
at $600. Heywood and her
passenger, Ladeena Volland,
Hensall, received minor bruises.
On September 15, Archie
Wrench, London, was fatally
injured when he was struck on
Highway No. 4 by a truck driv-
en by William Mott, of Walton.
Wrench was a pedestrian.
Constable Ed Wilcox reported
$50 damage to the truck. There
will be an inquest.
Constable Bill Glassford is
investigating the theft of
antiques from a vacant farm
house in Stephen Township.
Furniture and dishes valued at
$90 were taken.
Area farmers who are drawing
their crops to the market -
are reminded that tail lights
are required at the rear of all
wagons, grain boxes etc., when
on the roads after dusk.
A Huron Park youth has been
charged with car theft as the
result of a complaint from
Richard Davis, Crediton, who
reported his car stolen from a
parking lot at Huron Park.
Constable Don Mason found the
car at Centralia village on
September 16.
Mrs. Elsie Huber, Grand
Bend, reported her one year
old, silver grey poodle was
lost on Highway No. 21 between
Grand Bend and St. Joseph.
The dog's hame is "Kelly."

A tourist in Britain asked a
policeman what the strap on his
helmet was for.
The bobby replied: "This
strap, Madam, is to rest our chins
on when we get tired of an-
swering questions."

Succesful year far MAA
The annual meeting of the
Zurich Minor Athletic Associat-
ion was held last week, and
re-elected Fred Haberer to his
second term as president of the
organization. Secretary -treas-
urer is Bob kIerner.
Elected to the office of vice-
presidents were, George Hag-
gitt, in charge of property;
Fred Mornmersteeg in charge
of personnel; Ray McKinnon,
in charge of Junior Hockey;
and Ken Clarke, in charge of
finances.
The financial report of the
organization showed a balance
of $83.16 in the treasury, after
all expenses for the past year
have been taken care of. Big-
gest items on the expenditure
sheet was $2, 051. for ice
rental and $1, 122.61 for equip-
ment, A donation of $500 was
made to the operation of the
Hensall-Zurich Junior D hockey
club, as well.
On the receipts side of the
ledger the organization received
donations of $100 from the
Township of Hay, the Bean
Festival Committee, the Zurich
Chamber of Commerce; $50
from the Zurich Lions Club;
' $67.50 from the Auxiliary to
the MAA; $18,2'7 from the
South Huron Veterinary Clinic.
The sum of $500 was picked up
in registration fees, and total •
gate receipts were $981.18.
The annual banquet were $427.
95, and from the Midget Walk-
athon, $424.45. The biggest
item of revenue came from
dances and hat pool tickets, a
total of $2796.27.
Total receipts for the year
were $6319.09, against expend-
itures of $6235. 93.
Another donation which was
received by the Minor Athletic
Association, and was not listed
on their financial statement,
was a set of hockey swearers
donated by the Dominion ilotel,
in the amount of 8180.
The organization sponsored
both hockey and softball prog-
rams during the past year.
