LONDON GRADUATE
Marilyn Ruth Keys, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Keys,
Varna, graduated from Victoria
Hospital School of Nursing on
September 9, in a ceremony
held in Centennial Hall, London.
Marilyn has accepted a position
on the staff of Victoria Hospital.

The Zurich 4-H Clubs meet
in the Hay Township 1-Iall, on
September S. We were divided
into three groups. Here we
picked the officers who are as
follows; president, Elizabeth
Deichert; secretary, Christine
Plantinga; treasurer, Mary
Blackwell, press reporter,
Ruby Beierling.
Our club for this fall is
"Dairy Fair." The leaders for
our club, Zurich VI, are Mrs.
Schwartzentruber and Mrs.
Finkbeiner.
Meeting I was held at Mrs.
Schwartzentruber 's house on
September 15. We opened
with the 4- H Pledge. We dec-
ided to name our club "Dairy
Maids." Then we were given
recipes and a member's pamph-
let.
Mrs, Schwartzentruber dem-
onstrated how to make a cheese
pizza and a chocolate milk-
shake. Afterwards, Mrs. Fink-
beiner demonstrated how to
make grilled cheese sandwiches.
All of these were delicious.
Meeting will be held at Mrs.
Schwartzentruber house on
September 22.

Hay Township
A poor, turnout of only 33.28
percent of the eligible voters
in. Hay Township turned out last
Wednesday to give an affirmat-
ive answer to both liquor and
dining lounge in the municipal-
ity. Up until this time the
Township had been dry.
St. Paul's ACW
pion bake sale
The Anglican Church Women
of St. Paul's church, Hensall,
was held at the home of firs.
Mary Taylor, on Thursday,
September 16.
The president, Mrs. W. Scrab-
uick, opened the meeting with
the members prayer, followed
by devotions from the living
message. Mrs. Mary Taylor
read the Scripture Lesson.
October 30 was the date set
for the Bazaar and Bake Sale,
with Mrs. A. Reid and Mrs.
F. Forrest to convene the project,
Mrs. F. Forrest read a paper
on Brand Names Parade. Roll
call was answered by Household
Hints,
Mrs. A, Reid took the Topic,
"Learn to say No, " stating many
times we trust say no in training
our children, also in social life.
The meeting closed with the
Benediction from the Living
Message.

held on Sunday, September 26,

Amber Rebekah Lodge held
their fall meeting Wednesday,
September 15, with Noble Grand
Mrs. Jack Taylor presiding,
assisted by Mrs. Elizabeth Riley,
Vice Grand. Cards were sent to
Mrs. Estelle Jackson of Bruce -
field, who fractured her arm.
Sympathy card was sent to the
Kyle family, and a plant sent
to Cecil Pepper, a patient at
Victoria Hospital,
A letter was read from the
district secretary informing the
Lodge date of installation,
October 5, Cards are to he sent
to all members to attend, an
invitation he sent to Edelweis
Lodge, Seaforth, to attend
installation of Amber Rebekah
Lodge officers.
Happy birthday was sung to
Airs. Chipchase, Mrs. Ingram
and Mrs. Ray Consitt.

The vote was 73.67 percent
in favour of liquor lounges and
76.44 percent in favour of
dining lounges (meaning liquor
served with food on licenced
premises,) Orr the liquor quest-
ion there was a total of 16 re-
jected ballots, according to
clerk Wayne C. liorner, who
was returning officer for the
vote.
This marked the first time
iti Ontario that persons between
the ages of 18 and 21 were al-
lowed to vote, and surprising
enough very few of tlteni tool<
advantage of the opportunity.
The only urban area involved
in the vote was the north side
of the police village of Dash-
wood. Up until this time rhe
south side of Dashwood which
is in Stephen Township, could
have licenced premises, while
the north side could not. Now
both sides of the road are on
the same grounds.
Applications for licences are
expected to be filed shortly

Inn and the Pineridge Chalet,
.two of the businesses which
asked for the vote some time
ago.
